2. Negative augmentation

- ....nor... (dan >> negative meaning)

- neither.....nor.... (baik...maupun.....tidak...)

a. Parallel subject

e.g.:

- Elsa is not coming here.

- Harry is not coming here.

>> Elsa nor Harry is coming here.

>> Neither Elsa nor Harry is coming here.

*Selain bentuk tersebut, elipsis parallel subject dalam negative augmentation dapat menggunakan pola:

a. S + V (+ O + Adv), and S + Vaux(-) + either

b. S + V (+ O + Adv), and + neither + Vaux + S

e.g.:

- Harry didn't bring a ruler.

- John didn't bring a ruler.

>> Harry didn't bring a ruler, and John didn't either.

>> Harry didn't bring a ruler, and neither did John.

- He isn't kind.

- His sister isn't kind.

>> He isn't kind, and his sister isn't either.

>> He isn't kind, and neither is his sister.

b. Parallel verb

e.g.:

- She doesn't touch your gift.

- She doesn't open your gift.

>> She doesn't touch nor opens your gift.

>> She neither touches nor opens your gift.

c. Parallel object.

e.g.:

- Mr. Smith didn't rent a house.

- Mr. Smith didn't rent a car.

>> Mr. Smith didn't rent a house nor a car.

>> Mr. Smith rented neither a house nor a car.

d. Parallel adverb

e.g.;

- Harry doesn't have a house in Malang.

- Harry doesn't have a house in Surabaya.

>> Harry doesn't have a house in Malang nor (in) Surabaya.

>> Harry has a house neither in Malang nor in Surabaya.

>> Harry has a house in neither Malang nor Surabaya.

3. Alternation

- ....or.... (atau)

- either....or.....(jika bukan.....berarti...../ ....atau....)
