{kathryn's pov}
[the next morning: sunday]i wake up to an empty bed. ali's already up, as usual.
she's an early bird, always has been, always will be.
i checked my phone. 12:44. woah. i slept in so late.
i then looked around, trying to remember what happened before i'd completely blacked out. that's exhaustion for you.
i go into our bathroom and look at myself in the mirror.
i had dark circles under my eyes.
i guess it was from getting absolutely no sleep last night. the only thing my body granted me was a silent emotional breakdown.
i quickly locked the bedroom and bathroom door so that i'd be sure the incident with harvey NEVER happened again.
i then took a relaxing yet short shower and washed my hair. then i took extra time to brush, blow dry, and put my hair in loose curls just so i wouldn't have to socialize with anyone.
i then got dressed in a white adidas sweatshirt, black ripped jeans, and my black high top vans. i then looked through my huge suitcase and pulled out my skateboard.
i never go anywhere without it, especially long trips. i grabbed my phone and earbuds and silently unlocked and opened my bedroom door. i listened for a few seconds before i heard ali and max talking in max and harveys room.
harvey was clearly in there because max asked," harvey, can't you socialize?" harvey of course stayed silent.
i quietly walked downstairs and walked outside, not drawing any attention thank god.
i skated down the street with my earbuds in and chill beats bouncing around along with my thoughts.
the street was fully paved and was one of the best i've ever skated on.
i skated for as long as i could, my earbuds in and the rhythms of the songs forcing me to hum along and gain an optimistic vibe.
i went down a series of smaller streets, remembering the ways in which i turned and went down.
it was great, that is until my phone starting ringing.
i looked down at my phone and saw that it was ali.
i didn't stop, i just answered while skating. i could since i had been doing it for a few years now.
"hello?" i answered, turning yet again onto another neighborhood street.
"kathryn, where the heck are you?!" she practically yelled into the phone.
i sighed.
"skating ali. skating." i replied.
"you brought your skateboard? why?" she quickly asked, obviously worried.
"because i never go anywhere without it and i needed a break from the house, too crowded. and don't worry, i'm fine ali." i answered.
"ugh kathryn, come back!" she started," you can't just run off in a different country in a neighborhood you've never studied!"
"woah, ali, calm down. mom much?" i said turning the skateboard around and starting back to the Mills'.
"kathryn! just come on, everyone's worried, even harvey for gods sake," she shot back quickly, whispering the last part of course.
"on my way mom," i replied, annoyed.
i then hung up and took my ever so precious time gettin back. who wouldn't? it's amazing here.
it took almost 30 minutes to get back, 27 to
be exact. when i got into view of he house, max, ali, and harvey were outside, waiting for me."kathryn!" ali exclaimed when she saw me.
"yo," i replied, skating a few more feet then stopping and picking up my board smoothly. harvey was smiling a little.
"we were so worried," she said as she and max ran up to me.
"kalli, we're so glad you're okay!" ali said hugging me.
"uh, thanks?" i said confused.
i looked over her shoulder at harvey and saw him running his hands through his hair.
i'm ashamed of what i did next.
