"hey guys," max called out as he walked our way. we both looked up from our phones and awkward silence to see he and harvey walking towards us.

ali waved and smiled as i just looked back down at my phone. i don't think anyone noticed my annoyance. they were all bubbly, even harvey. it's really weird. i wanted to go home.

but it's only the second day.

the. second. day.

"you ok?" max suddenly says, causing me to look up at them all staring at me. "uh," i reply. max looked worried, harvey looked confused, and ali looked confused too. woah ok.

"i guess," i finally said max nodded and so did ali. harvey just looked away and jumped back into the conversation. how could someone like me fourth-wheel? i'm supposed to be the talker. this was annoying. i didn't like it.

"hate to ruin your little friendship circle, but can we leave?" i blurted out a few minutes later. they all looked at me. again. why me? why not look at harvey for being rude and not even saying anything?

"yeah, sure," max replied, getting up and looking around, making sure he didn't hit anyone and wasn't in the way. we all got up and followed harvey out, me in the back of course. i felt antisocial and stuck up.

ew.

we all got into max's car since he and harvey were 16 after all, and started towards our temporary house. "kathryn. i said i was sorry," ali whispered to me, knowing i was still upset about her and max. i just looked at her and nodded then looked out the window. ali and i were in the back while max and harvey sat in the front, joking the whole way home. i would glance up at the front mirror at times and see harvey staring at me a little. i felt like blushing but wouldn't let myself. no. no harvey. no kathryn and harvey. none of that.

when we all strapped out of the car, ali and harvey walked in front of max and i. max was a little ahead of me but i could still reach him. once ali and harvey were out of sight, i pulled on max's arm. he looked at me confused.

"yes?" he asked, shutting the door to give him and i privacy. i leaned up against the wall. "i know about you and ali," i said, looking down at the ground. he sighed. "she told you? great," he said, getting in front of me. "can i not like her?" he asked, as if i was her mother. i scoffed. "max. you can date whomever you please, but if you hurt her i swear to you, i will hurt you back. ali's my bestfriend. i'm just confused because you didn't say anything. i mean, c'mon. we're supposed to be friends. and i thought you were the nice twin," i said, with the words slowly becoming more friendly. i smiled at the end when dissing harvey.

max laughed a little and smiled. "i am the nice one," he said, with another smile. aw. hold on. who do i like here? i rolled my eyes and laughed. "but seriously," i started," don't hurt ali. she's been through a lot before, especially with guys," i added.

he nodded. "yes mam," he replied, inching a little closer. kiss me. wait, no, don't. woah. hold on now. am i the player? WOAH. THIS ISN'T OKAY.

i then realized i was staring at him. "kathrynnn?" he said, waving his hand over my face. i smiled and felt like blushing again. "maxxxx," i replied, mocking him jokingly. "you're not funny," he said back laughing. "if i'm not funny then why are you laughing?" i said raising an eyebrow and smiling. he laughed again. he's cute. i-i mean...um he's so..max?

just then, in the middle of max and i having a small moment, the door bursted open and ali and harvey stood there. max just stayed there, obviously not thinking like i was. i'm friendzoned. i, kathryn, have been friendzoned.

"what's going on?" ali announces accusingly. "a private conversation," max said laughing. ali didn't laugh. ouch. sorry max. harvey looked between max and i with a confused, hurt look. "no, no harvey! it's not what it looks like. kathryn and i are just friends. we promise!" max said looking at me. my heart dropped a little. i shouldn't care this much. it's not okay. i nodded and looked at harvey and ali. "we're only really good friends," i said.
