[ kathryn's pov ]
at school

"wait wait wait, so you're harvey's new girlfriend?" lily asked in disbelief as she sipped her drink. i laughed and nodded. "in the flesh," i replied.

she bit her lip then pondered for a moment. "i'm one of his ex's," she told me. "what? really?" i asked in shock. wow. harvey will literally date anyone. anyone.

she nodded with a mild expression on her face. "it's true. i was that stupid once," she said, looking away the suddenly snapping her head towards me a few seconds later, finally realizing what she's said.

"oh my god, i'm so sorry. i didn't mean it that way. you're a lovely girl and you and harvey work together..we just..didn't," she explained. "it's fine, i understand," i replied with a laugh.

as you can probably infer, lily and i have become pretty good friends. she's in most of my classes and is also in my temporary 'friendgroup'. aka, harvey's friendgroup.

she's absolutely hilarious and is super fun to hangout with. she and ali have also met and actually really like eachother. she and harvey aren't really big friends, so i guess that's why he's actually not sitting with me on my first day at a new school in a new country. :)

i looked over to see him talking and laughing with all of his guy friends at a separate table at lunch, which is what time it presently is. i'd look over and see him glance at me a few times then continue to laugh and joke around with everyone else.

not gonna lie, it kinda hurt my feelings, but i get it if he wants some space at school. i mean, i live with him so i can't blame him.

"oh, is he ignoring you?" lily suddenly asked, forcing me to look over at her instead of harvey. i shook my head and came up with an excuse. "i mean, i live with him so he probably just wants a little space for a day or two," i replied, looking back at him and meeting his eyes once more.

i finally had the courage to look away first, just to give him a taste of what he's been doing to me.

"yeah. i get that," lily replied to my excuse, most likely not buying it. i nodded and looked over as ali walked over towards us at our small, circular table. max was following her with a smile.

she came and sat beside me as max sat across from her, beside lily. "hey. the line was horrid. sorry i'm kinda late at sitting down," ali explained, looking at me.

i nodded. "it looked really long so you're excused," i replied. "thank you," ali said, beginning to eat her food.

"it's been quite a while mills," lily suddenly said to max. max nodded. "it has lily." he replied. "you two know eachother?" i asked, quite confused. they both nodded. ali have max a look. he shook his head. "it's not like that," he explained, meaning they haven't dated or anything. "she dated harvey so we were friends at some point at the beginning of the year," he continued to explain their relationship.

ali sighed with relief and nodded. "wait..you dated harvey?" ali asked lily, obviously shocked and confused. lily nodded as if she regretted it deeply. "it didn't last that long," she said, looking at me for a moment. max nodded. "their relationship ended after like two weeks because he cheated on her with-" he explained before lily slapped his arm to make him shut up.  i wasn't feeling this conversation. "oh..sorry.." max said, looking down at his lunch. i just nodded and sighed.

things between max and i hadn't been crystal clear since the really awkward kiss we shared on accident. i know what you're thinking: accident? you can't kiss someone on accident kathryn. okay, i can, and i did. take that.

we shared an awkward look while lily and ali talked about something i didn't pay attention to.

i mean, max acted like he would never dream of being with someone other than ali or dating someone else, but in reality he actually did it with me. he acted offended that ali thought he and lily had been a thing, but the secret he kept from her was way worse than some ex girlfriend he hadn't talked about.

i mean, i'm not saying that he should tell her..only god knows what she'd do. i'm just saying he should feel just as bad as i do. is that too harsh?

"wanna come over later?" i asked as lily and i walked behind max and ali. they were caught up in their own conversation, so lily and i had a separate one. thankfully, the school day had been kind of smooth. i got to talk to some of my california friends, so it was really nice.

"sure. i mean, i can right now if you want. i only live with my mum and she works until seven, so i'm completely available," she replied, looking at me. i nodded and smiled. "yeah that works," i replied, continuing to walk to their house, which wasn't that far away from the school.

i have no clue where harvey is. he's probably with his popular friends somewhere, or maybe he's at one of his friends like jacob or ethan's house. he's been so weird today, and i don't know if it's my fault.
