"so you've never tried lemon sorbet?" i asked as i ordered two lemon sorbet's at our local ice cream parlor.

kathryn shook her head and nervously took the sorbet as the man finished portioning it into a small cup. i laughed. "you've been missing out," i told her as we walked out and sat on a bench outside of the parlor.

she sat there nervously staring at her sorbet.

"okay, since you're terrified of it, we'll eat it together," i said to her, getting a spoonful of mine and raising it to my lips. she did the same and we both ate the spoonfuls.

she smiled after a couple of seconds.

"oh my god. this is so good," she said with grin. i nodded and laughed. "isn't it?" i replied.

"i have been missing out maxy," she said, looking at me and laughed. i laughed back.

suddenly, the world seemed to slow down. i looked up at her and met her gaze. she was still smiling. "max? are you-" she began to say before i cut her off by crashing my lips into hers.

i know what you're thinking: "wait. max, aren't you the good guy? aren't you the nice one?" i'm currently asking myself the same thing.

to my surprise, she kissed back. wait. no. oh no. i quickly pulled away right as i was enjoying it fully.

she stared at me in shock as i did to her.

"what did we just.." she said, fading out before she could complete the sentence.

"i..i don't know..i'm sorry," i replied, looking down at the concrete my feet were resting on. she looked down too, obviously confused.

whatever the heck just happened wasn't right, but it felt like it was. it felt right though it was ever so wrong. it felt different. it wasn't like kissing some girl or like kissing ali. it was just different in an unexplainable way.

"we can't tell anyone okay? and we have to act like this never happened because i'm dating your brother max," kathryn said as she looked at me seriously.

i sighed.

"i won't tell anyone. it was a mistake," i replied to her comment.

it wasn't a mistake. i felt something. i don't know what's gotten into me. maybe i'm the player now. has harvey rubbed off on me or something?

after we finished our ice cream and the awkward aftermath of the 'wrong' kiss wore off, kathryn and i decided to walk back.

we talked as if we'd known eachother for way more than a few days. time seemed to go fast, yet slow at the same time. what the heck is wrong with me?

"isn't it funny that we met a few days ago?" kathryn asked as we walked around a park near our house. i laughed. " i was actually just thinking the same thing," i replied, making her smile.

i smiled at her smile.

just then, a ball came flying right past me. i jogged over to it and looked at it. oh how familiar it was.

"oi, can you pass it over here mate?" ethan yelled. over to me as he waved one of his arms in the air. i laughed to myself and kicked it to him. harvey looked over from talking to one of his friends, jacob i think, and waved at kathryn and i.

kathryn waved back as i nodded my head once.

harvey then came jogging up to us. "hey," he greeted, kissing kathryn's cheek. oh how jealous i was, but who was i to take someone's girlfriend? especially if it's harveys girlfriend. a lucky one, he is.

"what's up," i replied, looking at them together. kathryn was acting like nothing happened. for her, nothing happened, but for me, everything changed.

"what've you been up to today?" harvey asked us.

"we went and got ice cream and have just been talking," kathryn replied to him. he nodded.

"sounds like you've had fun then?" he replied to her, looking at us both.

we both nodded. "a lot actually," i replied with a small smile. they both smiled back.

"harvey! you playing this round or not?" ethan called out to him as he held the football with one hand.

"yeah comin'," he replied, kissing kathryn, waving to us, and leaving to go play some football with his stupid friends.

after that, kathryn and i headed home and watched a movie with ali since she was finally up.

it was almost perfect. almost.
