Chapter Twenty Three: The Calm Before the Storm

As everyone sat at the dinner table waiting for Susanoo to come out with what he called 'custom dishes', everyone glanced over at Minazuki every once and a while. They noticed the change in his eyes, but Najenda kept telling them they'd learn after dinner. Leone keeps trying to get him to tell her by rubbing against him, but he keeps saying, "You'll have to wait." The door to the kitchen dramatically swings open and Susanoo walks out with two large silver platters in his hands before shouting, "Are you all ready!?" Everyone cheers when they see Susanoo with the food and he quickly delivers everyone their proper dishes. He hands Najenda her dish and says, "For Najenda, salt flavored ramen with slightly harder noodles. I have complete confidence in its chicken flavor and the zesty salt!" He gives Mine her dessert and says, "For Mine, a strawberry parfait! There's a secret ingredient I added in as well!!" Next, he gives Lubbock his dish and says, "For Lubbock, I made Bokkai Shrimp, fresh from the water!!" Then he gives Sheele her bowl of ramen and says, "For Sheele, salt flavored ramen with slightly softer noodles! I went light on the spices as you asked and even added the diced stake you requested!" He places a bucket of ice with three bottles of alcohol and a small plate of food in front of Leone and says, "For Leone, Oden and chilled alcohol, an expensive local product!!" Then, he places a giant plate filled with all kinds of meat in front of Akame and says, "For Akame, an assortment of meat! It's even cooked with my ultra-secret sauce!!!" He places a small plate with a slice of cake in front of Chelsea and says, "For Chelsea, a piece of Death By Chocolate Cake! I made sure to add extra chocolate chips to the mix as you asked and it seems to have turned out beyond perfect!" He places a bowl of soup in front of Minazuki and says, "For Minazuki, a dish from his childhood! A ramen like dish where most of the meal is made up of aquatic danger beast meat and noodles that aren't too soft yet not too hard!! This was one I didn't have in my repertoire, so be sure to tell me if I missed anything!" "And for Tatsumi, since he said anything was fine, I made him a special Susanoo-lunch platter!", he says before placing what seems like a tray filled with childish food on it in front of Tatsumi. Mine and Chelsea giggle at the sight of it as Tatsumi just asks, "Isn't this a kid's meal...?" On one side of the table are Mine, Tatsumi, Chelsea and Sheele, and on the other side are Leone, Minazuki, Akame, and Lubbock. And at the head of the table are Susanoo and Najenda, who's sitting closer to Lubbock for whatever reason. "Well, now that we've gotten our dishes from Susanoo, let's eat well and prepare ourselves for the-", she begins to say passionately before looking up to see everyone has already started eating without her. She sighs and says, "I didn't even get to finish my cool speech I was going to give. At least you all are in such high spirits I guess." Akame is nearly inhaling her meat platter, Lubbock is scarfing down his dish, Tatsumi is rushing to eat his tiny kid's meal, Leone downs a bottle of the alcohol, and Mine, Minazuki, Sheele and Chelsea are slowly enjoying their dishes. After taking a few bites of her parfait, Mine says, "This is really good, and sweet too! Hey, Tatsumi, do you want to try some of my parfait?" He looks over to her and nods before she spoon feeds him a bit, making him say, "Wow, that was great!" Mine smiles, but suddenly, Chelsea pulls him over to her side and says, "You should try some of my cake, it's really good too~" She gives him a bit and he almost dies from how great it is before saying, "That was really good too! Great job, Suu!" Mine glares at her as she looks over Tatsumi's shoulder with a smug look on her face. Minazuki is in the middle of eating some of the noodles when Leone pulls him over to her and says, "Hey partner, you think you can help me pour my drinks? I haven't had any in a while, so it's hitting me harder than usual." He finishes the noodle that's still halfway out of his mouth before pouring her drink for her. "Gooood, goood~", she says with a slightly red face. After Akame finishes her plate, she wipes her face and turns to Susanoo, before saying, "Your cooking is awesome as always, Suu!" "I'm glad to hear you say that.", Susanoo replies with a modest smile. He suddenly turns his attention to the single grain of rice on Tatsumi's plate and says, "But Tatsumi, don't just leave a single grain of rice on your plate! It's extremely bothersome!!!" Tatsumi just sighs and says, "He'd be perfect if he wasn't so nitpicky..."
