Chapter Twenty Four: Kill the Fate

As night begins to fall, their mission begins. The diversion team of Minazuki, Tatsumi, Leone, Najenda, and Susanoo makes their first move at roughly one o'clock in the morning. Tatsumi ambushes a passing patrol unit, knocking both of the guards out at once. After that, they scale the wall around the church to reach the courtyard in front of the church's front door. Once there, they're met by dozens of trained armed guards, all of which are ready to die protecting Bolic. "Well, you all know what to do.", Najenda says with a smile before she and the rest of the team rush into the hoard of guards to battle them to the death. They easily outmatch the guards and one of them rushes inside, only being allowed to do so because it's part of their plan. As that guard busts into the main room, he shouts, "Emergency! EMERGENCY!!! Bandits have appeared in the courtyard out of nowhere!! We're getting slaughtered out there!!!" Esdeath scoffs and says, "I knew you'd choose this night, Najenda. Just as planned." Bolic begins to panic while shouting, "Courtyard!? They're right outside our front door!?!" Esdeath turns to Kurome and says, "Kurome, you're to stay at Bolic's side. Don't let him out of your sight for even a second!" Bolic crawls to her feet and begs, "General!! Please protect me!!!" She looks down at him in complete disgust and says, "Go back to your throne, hold your head up and act high and mighty like you always do! How pathetic, I wouldn't leave this room no matter how much noise they make out there!", before stabbing him in the forehead with the heel of her boot. She looks over to the only doors to the room and thinks, "No matter how much commotion you make out there, it's a lost cause if you can't assassinate Bolic. Now, come!"

In the sky, Lubbock, Akame, Mine, and Sheele are riding on the back of the Air Manta, heading toward the church. "Alright, we'll charge in through the roof and assassinate Bolic once Esdeath and her Jaegers have been drawn out!", Akame shouts. "Mine, once we're almost there, use Pumpkin to blast a good-sized hole in the roof!", Lubbock suggests. "No problem! I'm ready to go!", Mine shouts. "Pumpkin sure went through a lot, I'm surprised it's still working, especially after that explosion.", Sheele says with her usual smile. "That's true, it's a miracle, but that's really nothing compared to what the Boss said she put it through when she had it.", Mine replies. "So it won't recoil or anything, right?", Lubbock asks her. She shakes her head no and says, "Don't worry, just leave it to me. I'm a genius sniper, remember?" She goes to aim Pumpkin, but gets disrupted by something flying at an incredible speed past them. When they turn to look, it's Run using Mastema to fly along side the Air Manta! "What!?!", Akame shouts in disbelief. "Looks like General Esdeath was right to assume there'd be two teams. But, knowing i was here, and still attacking from the sky, that was just...", Run begins to say before dipping below the Air Manta. "Poor strategy!!", he shouts as he strikes the Air Manta with one of his wings, killing it instantly. "Shit, it's dead! It's dead!!!", Lubbock shouts as they start going down. Run quickly follows after them, saying, "I won't let you get away that easy, Night Raid.", before launching blade like feathers at them. "And I won't let you waste my time!", Mine shouts before using the danger he put her in to shoot a powerful charge shot at him. The attack barely grazes him, but causes his Imperial Arm to fail and him to start to crash. Akame quickly deflects the incoming feathers before turning to Mine and saying, "Impressive shot, Mine. You drove him away." "That followup was pretty nice too!", Mine replies. "Could we please focus on the bigger issue?", Sheele asks in a panic. "Yeah, we'll all die from the crash if we don't act quick!!", Lubbock shouts as he starts weaving his threat. He wraps the Air Manta's body up in a cocoon like sack before saying, "This should work as a cushion, hang on!!" As they finally come to a crash, the cushion explodes open to reveal everyone is alright. "Impressive, the Air Manta's body absorbed all of the force from the impact.", Lubbock says as he looks at the beast's mostly crushed corpse. "Thanks for everything.", Akame says to it with a bow. "It was such a kind creature too.", Sheele says in a slightly saddened tone. Mine gives it one last pet before saying, "You might've given me night terrors, but you saved us in the end." "We fell before we could reach out target. Let's hurry to the church!", Akame suggest and the other three nod in unison. "I won't let you.", a voice say from out of nowhere. They turn to see Wave! "Your opponent is, me.", he says with a determined glare. "Another Jaeger!?", Lubbock shouts. Akame draws her sword and Mine shouts, "You sure about this buddy? Even if you're not our target, the four of us will show you no mercy!!" "Come, assassins, you even injured Run... I'm not going to let you take anymore comrades from me!! I won't let you hurt anyone else!!!", he shouts before drawing his blade and stabbing it into the ground and shouting, "GRAND CHARIOT!!!!" He's suddenly covered in the Grand Chariot armor and rushes down Mine. Sheele blocks his approach and rapidly slices at him with Ecstasy. He dodges all of her attacks before punching her in the gut so hard, she goes flying into the nearby forest area. Akame tries to take advantage of him being distracted by Sheele to slice at him, but the armor is too thick and she can't penetrate to his skin. "It doesn't matter how many of you there are!!!", he shouts as he punches Akame in the gut, sending her crashing past Sheele. Lubbock manages to tie him up with some thread before shouting, "Alright, I got him!!" But he quickly breaks free and heads straight for Lubbock. Lubbock just grins since he setup a trap for him incase he broke free like he did. "Come on, get caught you dumb bastard!", Lubbock thinks to himself as he waits for Wave to be cut down by running head first into his Realm Severing thread. Wave sees the thread however and leaps into the air shouting, "Tricks like that won't work on me! I'll destroy all of you!!!" "Grand Fall!!", Wave shouts as he begins to divekick Lubbock. Lubbock tries to setup a barrier, but it isn't enough to stop Wave's attack and he ends up taking the attack full force to the chest, sending him flying into a tree. Mine opens fire on him from behind, but Wave dodges her shots easily. "What the hell!? Was this guy always this strong!?!", Mine thinks as she tries to find an opening to strike. Akame manages to walk over to Mine's side and so does Sheele. "He's like a force of nature...", Sheele says reluctantly. "If we don't hurry...the diversion team will be annihilated for sure!", Akame thinks to herself as she prepares to fight.
