Chapter Thirty Six: The Rescue

Back in the coliseum, Esdeath and Mine are finally going to clash with all their might. "So this is the girl who's taken Tatsumi's heart? She seems less than impressive if you ask me...", Esdeath thinks as she looks at Mine from head to toe. Mine suddenly points Pumpkin at Esdeath again and shouts, "Here I come, ESDEATH!!", before firing a powerful beam at her. Esdeath manages to dodge, circling around to Mine's left, but Mine just shouts, "You're not getting away that easy! I'll shoot you down!!!" She suddenly shifts Pumpkin and sends the beam at Esdeath like a blade that cuts straight through the air, but Esdeath dodges yet again, leaping over the blast this time. She snaps her fingers and a giant ice meteor forms out of nowhere before suddenly coming crashing down toward Mine. "Like a snowball like that'd work on me!!!", Mine shouts before shooting the meteor down in a single shot, shattering it into giant shards of ice that fall from the sky. Esdeath leaps from one of the shards, aiming to run Mine through with her sword, but Mine sees her attack coming and slices through the air again by dropping the beam down to the ground. Esdeath barely manages to dodge the attack this time, losing a small bit of her long hair to the blast. As she lands on her feet from her aerial dodge, she says, "That's some incredible firepower, I'll give you that. I almost couldn't dodge that last attack. But even though I dodged that attack, you managed to complete your actual goal. You've set Tatsumi free." Tatsumi undoes the bindings on his feet before leaping down to the ground, landing on one hand and his feet. "Well, I am a genius sniper after all.", Mine says smugly. Tatsumi looks to his arm and sees she slightly nicked his sleeve as it's still smoking from the blast. He just lets out a chuckle as he remembers the first mission he went out on with Mine and how she scorched his hair with her shot. It brings a smile to his face as he says, "You keep aiming a little too close for comfort, but thanks for the help, Mine." He walks over to retrieve Incursio, but as he grabs the handle, he feels a stabbing pain in his hand. He reels back and when he looks, he sees that the blade is covered in small barbs. He manages to get them off and Esdeath says, "Tatsumi..." He turns to her and she asks, "What is it you see in this, Mine, was it?" "She's strong, but she's nothing compared to me! She's seems like nothing more than a child with a gun! What is it you see in her, Tatsumi!?", she shouts in frustration. Mine suddenly takes a shot at her, literally, while shouting, "YOU!!! Stop running your mouth!!!" Esdeath easily dodges her shot this time and says, "I can already see the trajectories of your shots before you take them. You're no match for me! Tatsumi deserves more than some little girl, he deserves a woman!! Hand him over to right this instant!!!" "You're just some psychopath! I'm not handing Tatsumi over to you, or anyone for that matter!!!", Mine shouts. Suddenly there's a large amount of energy coming from Tatsumi before he stabs Incursio's key into the ground and shouts, "INCURSIOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" The beast inside Incursio emerges and Tatsumi thinks, "Incursio, I know you can hear me! I don't care how agonizing it'll be, or how much pain I'll have to endure! Give me all the power you can give..!! I need to protect her!! So, give it to me! The power to obliterate this Empire and the corruption that plagues it!!! GIVE ME EVERYTHING!!!" The beast seems to wrap its massive hands around Tatsumi as its mask busts open and its giant mouth opens up. It looks down at Tatsumi with its six eyes and says, "Fight....kill....endure..." Power starts to flow into his body at an unbelievable rate, causing him to scream out in pain and a giant surge of power to blow through the arena, sending dirt and dust everywhere while illuminating the area around Tatsumi. Once the light dies down and the dust clouds settle, Esdeath and Mine both see Tatsumi, but his armor is different. It seems less like armor and more like another layer of skin in the form of armor. "Tatsumi?", the two ask in unison, both completely shocked by the sudden change. Tatsumi suddenly rushes toward Esdeath and tries to strike her down with his new, larger spear. He misses as she dodges back out of the way. He won't let her escape however, so he chases her down and unleashes a plethora of slices that she elegantly blocks with her sword. "He's gotten this much stronger in just a short amount of time? What kind of power up is this?", Esdeath thinks as she continues to block his powerful attacks.
