Diana had spent the night with her parents and it was some of the best sleep she's gotten since she left for college. She didn't realize what time it was as she had her phone turned off and buried in her jacket pocket so she wouldn't be tempted to look at it.
She had gotten up and showered and went back to her room for a few minutes until she heard her mom downstairs.
"Good morning, mommy." Diana greeted meeting Valerie in the kitchen
"Morning dear, how'd you sleep last night?"
"Like a baby." She said as Valerie smiled
"Good to hear."
"So what are you cooking this morning? I'm ready to chow down whatever it is you're making."
"Actually Ryan and I decided we were going to go out for brunch this morning instead, we wanted to try this new place on Lakeview Drive."
"Would it be alright if I can catch you guys there? I have a press conference just a few blocks away."
"Of course you can, sweetie," Valerie said as Diana smiled
"Sweet, I'll go get my shoes and I'll be ready to go."
Diana went upstairs to her room and put on some old sandals she had thrown in her closet and her oversized jacket and went back downstairs
"Ok Val, I'm ready to go," Ryan said
"Good, I'm starting to get a little hungry and Diana is going to catch a ride with us, she has a press conference."
"Alright, fine by me." He said grabbing his keys and heading out of the door
"So what's this press conference about?" Val asked as they were getting in the car
"Just about an upcoming match later down in the month and they're probably gonna ask about trade and future deals."
"Sounds exciting. Who knew our baby girl would turn out to be a world-class Olympic soccer star." Val said as Ryan scoffed
"I did. I told you that from the time of conception."
"Oh please. You didn't even know I was having triplets, she was a surprise to the both of us, and let alone the gender of them so how did you figure this?"
He looked back at Diana, "Father knows best." He said as Diana smiled back at him
"And mother knows bullshit, try again," Valerie said as Diana giggled
"You always have to downplay everything I do, what's with that?" He asked
"I don't downplay everything you do."
"Yes, you do."
"Do you two always argue like this?" Diana interjected
"We don't really argue much, but when we do it doesn't last long."
"How can I argue with someone as beautiful as you? You know I can't resist you, I love you my snuggle bear." He said leaning over and kissed her on the cheek
"Mmhmm."
"See, everything's back to normal now. She loves me again."
They made it to the event as she didn't want to go, but due to her contract, she was obligated to come.
"Have a good time sweetie, if you want us to come back and pick you up, just let us know."
"Actually, would the two of you mind coming with me? I didn't want to be by myself."
