Chapter 8: Times Up

The 48hrs were up and Diana was feeling pretty confident about her decision.

She had an idea of how everything was gonna play out, but she was ready for the worst.

The doorbell rings as Dina gets up to go answer it as it was Vance and two guys with him that looked like extras from Scarface.

"Just so you know I wasn't kidding around, I bought my backup, so you can tell your brothers wherever their hiding, they can come out now, it's a fair fight."

"My brothers aren't here, I'm alone."

He smiled, "So I guess you're gonna do the right thing and make the right decision."

"Exactly, I'm gonna do what's right." She said as she heard her front door open as she tried not to smile

Once the footsteps grew closer, she was leaping with joy as Vance was gonna get a taste of just how serious she was.

Diana's smile quickly faded and was replaced with a shocked expression. "Daddy?" She said as he casually walked into the living room with a box of donuts in his hand

"What are you doing here?"

"I brought you some donuts." He said giving her a kiss on the forehead and setting the box down on the coffee table

"Wait, wait, did you just say daddy? This man is your father?" Vance said with a wide-eyed expression and pointing at Ryan

"Yes, I'm her father, oh and your neighbor wanted me to tell you that she's gonna be out of town this weekend and wants to know can you watch her cat while she's gone." He said sitting down, turning on the TV and getting a donut from the box

"H-how is that possible that he is your father?" Vance asked as he still couldn't believe that Ryan was Diana's father

"A man, which is me, had unprotected sex with a woman, which is her mother, and nine months later, out come three kids at one damn time. The shit really isn't that complicated, and anyway, who are you and what are you even doing here?"

"Diana and I were discussing the terms of our contract together."

"So you need two extra guys for that?"

"Well, I, they were for protection."

"Against what? Certainly not against a 135lb twenty-year-old."

"Your other two sons, her twin brothers, they threatened me."

"And why did they do that?"

"Because I, I hit Diana, but I did apologize." He said quickly

"You hit my daughter? Is that what you're telling me?"

"Yes, but I truly am sorry, honestly. I wasn't thinking. It was just one big misunderstanding, but I promise that it will never happen again and I'll just leave." He said shakily as Ryan stood up and approached Vance

"No you're not, you obviously came over here for a reason. You thought you were going to come over here and muscle my daughter into signing some bullshit contract to keep your ass around, well guess what? I'm not Diana, you can't bully me around because if you fuck with me long enough, I'll kill your ass. Now, what you're going to do is give her back all the money she's due and you're not gonna say one word about this to anyone."

"Yessir, I promise." He said quickly as the three of them scurried out of the apartment and it was just Diana and Ryan

"Princess, you have some explains to do."

"Did Uncle Nate tell you? He promised he wouldn't tell."

"Nope, it was Tevin. He called me last night and told me. Why didn't you tell me yourself? This whole situation could've been avoided."

"I was scared, and I wanted to be independent. I thought I could do it all without asking for help or admitting that I failed."

"You know I'll always be there for you, I'm your dad for life and I'll always protect you. Next time, come to me and tell me directly, instead of going all over town."

"Yessir."

"Good." He said as he sat back down and grabbed another donut as Diana did the same

"You let him get away, you know I'll never see my money."

He smirked, "Come on now, you know me better than that. He only has a couple more hours to live anyway. " He said looking at his watch

"And the money?"

"Be in your account first thing tomorrow, now eat your donut." He said as she smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder
