Jamia went on and decided to take Devin to see her mother as she was battling cancer a few months prior and Dylan paid for her treatments, medicine, and whatever else she needed

Both were very thankful for him and he was happy to do it. But as time went on and she got better, she started reverting back to her old ways of abusing and using Jamia.

She would talk down to Jamia and make her feel guilty whenever she couldn't get her way. Jamia was primarily raised by her grandma and once her mom fell ill, she couldn't bring herself to turn away from her, after all, she's still her mother

"Hi mom, how are you doing today?" Jamia greeted walking into her room

"I could be a lot better if I were home in my own bed."

"I know ma, and you'll get there soon enough."

"Hi, grandma." Devin happily greeted as he went to hug her

"Hi granny's baby, have you been a good boy?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Oh good, the next time you'll come spend the night with me, I'll take you out for ice cream." She said as his face lit up

"Okay, I can't wait."

"Would you mind giving mommy and me a moment for just a minute? You can watch whatever you'd like." She said handing Devin the TV remote as Jamia sat in the chair next to the bed

"I need a favor from you, pumpkin."

"What is it?"

"I need some money for the house this month."

"I don't know, ma."

"What do you mean you don't know?"

Jamia sighed, "Well, Dylan and I got into a little argument this morning and I'm not exactly sure if I'll have enough to pay for your house and other bills."

"What did you do?" She asked in an irritated tone as Jamia was stunned that she was blaming the argument on her

"I didn't do anything, I just told him that I didn't like how he would have his whores in our house and he didn't like it so he told me that he pays the bills and if I didn't like it, then I could leave," Jamia said sadly as her mom angrily reached up and slapped her

"You stupid girl! You always have to ruin a good thing. I'd be thankful that he even wants to put up with your stupid ass! Without him, you have nothing and you will be nothing. Just do as your told and shake your ass when he tells you because another bitch will surely do it."

"But momma, he hurt me.." Jamia said as tears were welling up in her eyes

"Then get over it," She angrily spat
"Don't you love me?"

"I do, momma."

"Then why are you trying to kill me? You're trying to take away my happiness by upsetting Dylan. If you leave him then he'll surely stop paying for my medicine, hospital visits and that nice house you bought me, I'll end up homeless on the street, you don't want that to happen to me, do you?" She said in a soft voice as she tried to guilt Jamia and as always, Jamia falls for it

"No, no ma,"

"Then go make things right for all of us; me, you, and Devin because I doubt you'll find better living anywhere else."

Jamia went on and decided to take her mother's advice on making things right with Dylan.

She just wants all of this past her now so she could move on. The door opens as Jamia took a deep breath to calm her nerves.

He came in the house with his gym bag slung over his shoulder and his warmup jacket covering his sweaty orange t-shirt. "We need to talk."

"Mia, I'm done arguing with you today. I said what I said."

"No, I don't wanna argue, just talk, will you at least listen to me?"

"No, because all it does is lead to arguing, I don't wanna hear it." He said walking past her and going up the stairs until she grabbed his hand

"I'm sorry, okay! I'm sorry!"

"What are you sorry for?"

"For making you upset, especially in front of company." She said as she rolled her eyes at herself saying company
"It was the wrong time, and too early in the morning, there I said it. Now can we move on?"

"I've already moved on from it, but sure. Anything else?"

"I think I'll put my business degree to use, their hiring for a receptionist at the animal hospital, I think I wanna do that."

"Fine with me."

Is it all making sense now?

How would you feel if you were Jamia?

Let me know what you think.
