Everything was dark. Everything was silent. Azura opened her eyes to find herself in... Who knows. She sure as hell didn't know. The place was completely white and there was nothing but her inside of it.
"So. You got killed, huh? I know, kinda sucks."
Azura jumped. She turned around. In front of her were five people. All of them were wearing long, black, hooded cloaks that covered all of their bodies and their faces.
"Huh? What is this? Is this some sort of weird cult? I don't want to join so if you could just, you know, take me hom-"
"Be quiet, please," said the one in the middle. "This isn't a cult. Azura, you have died."
"What? No I haven't! I'm- I-I'm alive!" she protested.
"I know that it's hard to come to terms with it, but it's the truth. You were stabbed in the back of your neck by someone, we're not sure who..."
Azura remembered the pain she felt in the back of her neck. "Right... Wait- No! What if something just hit me and I was knocked unconscious! And now I'm in hospital hallucinating all of this from the drugs that the doctors gave me. Yeah, that makes sense!"
"No, Azura. You're here to be reincarnated, I wouldn't worry about it though. You were a good person so we might reincarnate you as something good."
"No, you put me back on Earth right now! I have my rights! I'm only fourteen, I can't be dead yet!"
"Okay then, let's see..." The hooded people completely ignored Azura's request. "Now we could just make you a fly or something, but that seems a bit harsh. Besides, I don't think you're a bad person," said the first person.
"We could make her something blue, I think she likes that color," remarked the third one.
"You think? She literally has it all over her, of course she likes it!" said the first person.
"Perhaps, we could make you a bluejay, I heard those are pretty cool."
"Or a bluebird!" said the first one.
"I say we just bring her back to life. She's a hard-working person, she's kind and she hasn't committed any sins! Why not!" said the second one.
"No! Bluebird!"
"Human!"
"Bluebird!"
"Human!"
"Bird!"
This petty argument went on for some time. The first person kept turning Azura into a bluebird whilst the second one kept putting her back to normal. Azura began to feel really lightheaded from constantly switching between being a bird and herself.
Something went wrong. Veeeery wrong. Whilst the two people argued over what Azura should be, they messed something up.
Azura opened her eyes, she was on the pavement where she had fainted. There was an ambulance and a police car parked on the kerb.
Azura sat up and touched the back of her neck. There was no cut. She looked at the ground next to her and there was no blood next to her. It was as if this never happened in the first place.
When the police officer and medics weren't looking, Azura snuck away and went home. How long was she unconscious for? She looked at her phone. It had only been ten minutes apparently.
Azura got home and went on her bed. She was truly convinced that she never really died. She assumed that it was all a bad dream.
Well, that was until she got out of bed.
