His head felt heavy, too heavy, like he was carrying the weight of the universe in his skull alone. His ears were ringing incessantly and the world around him felt fuzzy and misty. He wanted to open his eyes but it was as if they were stapled together, he was too tired, exhausted even. But he tried again.
He had to close them again immediately, the bright lights in the ceiling blinding him. And then he opened his eyes once more. He was in a hospital.
"How did I get here?" Alexander mumbled, his memory had been a tad weird ever since they found him unconscious on one of the halls of his college, but nothing this big. The last thing he remembered was walking toward his dorm and then everything went blank, and now for the second time he laid on a hospital bed, with no memories of how had that happened. He hated not being able to keep track of his own memories.
The door opened and there was his boyfriend Jack. No, John. It's John. Could this be a side effect of his medications? He had no idea, he never read that shit, but he was planning on checking that as soon as he got out of there.
"Oh, thank Lord you're awake, Pretty Boy, you had me so worried!" John gasped when he saw him away and basically jumped into his arms.
"Hey, honey" Alexander hugged back, trying to hide his killed headache. "What– what happened? What am I doing here?"
"I have no idea" John frowned. "You came to my dorm and simply.. collapsed. I was so worried, Pretty Boy. You hit your head on the fall so your memory may be a little fuzzy, but I'm so glad you're awake"
"How long was I out?"
"Roughly two days, but what matters is that you're fine, and now we can be happy with no one getting in our way" His boyfriend smiled at him and gave him a sweet peck in the lips.
Alexander frowned, his boyfriend would sometimes say stuff that he didn't understand, but he put no mind to it. It was John, after all.
"So yesterday, I was walking here when I saw a girl screaming in a corner, and I wondered why was no one helping her? But the I realized that it was only in my head, it was so funny, and then...."

Days later both boys walked across the campus toward John's dorm. On their way, Alexander glanced at a missing sign with Angelica's face, it was already dirty and slightly crumbled, nobody looked at it anymore, everyone had given up. Of course they did, they didn't know her, they didn't know how great she was as a friend and as a sister. They had no idea.
"Still no news of her?" John asked sweetly. Alexander shook his head.
His boyfriend stoped waking and pulled him into a hug. This was why Alexander loved John, the boy had so many problems himself and yet he always held Alex as he cried in the dead of the night, as he wailed about all the secrets he kept from John, about his family, his medications, the sudden urges that sometimes became uncontrollable, why his brother never spoke to him, the guilt for so many things. He would some day tell him everything, but now he just wanted to be held into his warm arms. Alexander would never understand how John was so strong, dealing with his boyfriend's demons and his own.
After a while they continued their way, and Alexander smiled when John waved at a red haired boy. They were going to be fine.

"Hey, have you seen Maria around lately?" His boyfriend shook his head.
"Nope, I wonder what she's up to" He mumbled as he sketched in his notebook, from what Alexander could see from this angle, it was a picture of him sleeping, of course. He wasn't creeped out by his boyfriend, he was used to him and is actions to a point where they could be considered endearing.
"C'mere John" The boy basically threw his notebook to the floor and leaped to his lap.
"Yeah, Pretty Boy?" He asked. Alexander smiled and kissed his temple.
"I love you" John's face reddened and his eyes shimmered with happiness.
"I love you too!" He basically yelled. "We'll always be together, right?"
"Of course, John"
"Forever and always?"
"I promise"
"Pinky promise?"
Fingers laced together, forming what some would call a childish bond, but it was more than that. It was an unbreakable promise.
