Streaks of coloured lights flew past Hermione, barely missing her as she ran towards the red head on the floor who she had called her best friend for years. Dark red blood pooled around the young girl who lay on the stone floor, taking her final breaths. A flash of white light came soaring towards Hermione, grazing her right arm, opening a gash that began flowing with blood. Letting out a low hiss, her left hand grabbed onto the large cut covering her upper arm, and she carried on running towards the limp body.
Hermione crouched beside the young red headed girl, her hand covering her mouth, her head shaking in disbelief at the sight of the girl that she had come to love. Her pale white skin was covered from head to toe in the sticky red substance that was seeping through her torn clothes. Her red hair was tangled, scrunched up in places and was hanging limply from her scalp. She couldn't be dying. She fought and fought, only stopping when she knew it was impossible to win and Hermione couldn't help the single tear that fell from her eye.
"Ginny......." Hermione choked out.
"Hermione...." Ginny spoke, her voice raspy and breaking, her eyes pooling with tears.
Hermione grabbed her purple, beaded bag from inside her jacket, plunging her hand inside, looking for something, anything that could save the young girl. Her hands traced over piles of books, only now inwardly cursing at bringing them all, the portrait of Phineas Black, the portable tent that she had spent the last year inside, until a weak and pale hand latched itself onto her wrist, covering her in blood. Hermione pulled her eyes away from her bag to find Ginny shaking her head as though accepting her death, wearing a watery smile.
"Ginny.... Let me help you." Hermione pleaded, attempting to pull her hand away from Ginny, who only grabbed onto her wrist tighter, leaving a bloody handprint. "Ginny..."
Ginny shook her head once again, looking up at the bushy haired girl who she had admired for all of their time as friends.
"No...." Ginny started, tears threatening to spill. "No.... You don't belong here. Go back.... Back to them... Save us Hermione.... Save us all..." A single tear fell from her eye and Ginny looked around at the dark courtyard, flashes of light flying everywhere, bodies falling to the floor, nobody knowing whether it was friend of foe, and she sadly noted that this scene, this was her last moments on earth, her last moments to say what she needed to say to the older girl who was like a sister to her.
"Hermione...... Kill him.... Get the horcruxes and kill him... Kill him once and for all. Don't rest until the world is free of him. Save them, save them all."
"How Ginny? I can't do this no more. I so badly want to save them but I can't. It was always Harry's job to do it, always Harry who was the bigger person and then there was me. The bushy haired girl who only cared about her grades, who couldn't even hear the word mudblood without bursting into tears. I'm not as strong as Voldemort. I can't kill him."
"Who helped Harry to get the Philosopher's stone? Who solved the riddle? Who figured out about the basilisk? Who figured out Remus was a werewolf? Who helped save Sirius? Who helped save Buckbeak? Who helped Harry in the Tri Wizard Tournament? Who was the only person able to get Ron Jealous? Who fought in the Department of Mysteries? Who punched Draco Malfoy in the face?" Hermione gave a watery smile at the last question despite the raging battle still going on. "Don't you get it yet? It's you. It was always you Hermione. Hermione Granger was always meant to save us. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for you, neither would Harry, nor Ron. So, stop doubting yourself. Find the horcruxes and kill old snake face once and for all."
Tears fell from Hermione's eyes as she grabbed onto the young girl's pale hand. Ginny's breaths were ragged and unstable before her eyes fluttered close and unable to watch her best friend die, she also closed her eyes, their hands still interlocked. A gasp came from the red headed girl and Hermione forced herself to keep her eyes tightly shut, feeling a figure walk over to the two girls. A scream echoed through the large courtyard, followed by a sharp laugh and when Hermione opened her eyes, she was confronted with the pale faced Bellatrix Lestrange. Hermione stifled a gasp before the scene in front of her disappeared.
