"What?" Hermione exclaimed, her eyes widened.

"Kiss me" Matthew repeated, his face fully serious.

"Are you serio-"Hermione started.

Cutting her off, Matthew leaned forward, planting his lips on top of hers. His hand made his way to her cheek and Hermione had to hold back a sigh. His lips moved softly against Hermione's, nothing like Sirius' desperate and lust filled kisses. After recovering from her state, she responded readily, her lips moving against his.

Suddenly, the door swung open, revealing none other than Lucius Malfoy, making Hermione and Matthew jump apart. A slight smirk graced Matthew's face whilst a bright red blush was currently spreading upwards from her neck.

"Can I help you?" Matthew spoke, his very words daring Lucius to come closer.

"Oh, I was just checking in to see if you were both okay." Lucius drawled.

"Oh well, I think we're more than okay." Matthew replied, a smirk claiming his face as he looked at the bright red witch next to him.

"You two aren't a 'thing' now are you?" Malfoy spoke, his nose turned up in disgust.

Hermione had to stifle a laugh. Of course they weren-

"Yes, yes of course we are." Matthew said, his smirk now back to a genuine smile.

Hermione nearly choked on air, she swallowed before looking at Matthew. This had to be some sort of joke, right?

"Of course," Lucius drawled, sarcasm clear in his every word. "So, should I expect Miss Dumbledore to be here very often?"

"Yes, you should. Does that seem to be a problem, Malfoy?" Matthew dared.

"No, of course not. Just don't come running to me when she runs away. Better luck next time Nott. Try not to pick Gryffindors again. Don't worry though, you'll learn."

"I'm sure I will. Now if you don't mind..." Matthew replied, his arm waving towards the door. Lucius stared at the brown-haired boy and the frizzy haired girl before strutting out of the dormitories.

Hermione stared at the boy in front of her. He was unbelievable. Why had she come here in the first place?

"What?" Matthew said, looking puzzled.

"Are you being serious? We're a 'thing' are we?" Hermione questioned.

"Oh... that. Yes, well errm.... How do I explain this? As you probably know, I'm in the death eater circle. Yes, well you probably know that the Dark Lord knows you're here. Knows who you really are. I thought if we became a 'thing' then I could protect you, convince the dark lord to spare you." Matthew explained and to this, Hermione was utterly confused.

"You? Protect me? May I ask why exactly?" the frizzy haired girl asked.

"I want to help stop the Dark Lord." Matthew stated. His eyes finally lifted from the floor where they hadn't moved from. He shrugged at the confused look Hermione gave him. "Yes, I know, not the simplest thing eh? But if I must sacrifice myself, it's for a good cause, right?

A large smile graced Hermione's face before she leant forward, pecking Matthew's lips and his cheeks flushed a dark red.

"Thank you." Hermione breathed before jumping up and running out the door.

"Sit with me at the feast?" the brown-haired wizard asked, slightly embarrassed.

Hermione nodded, a large smile still on her face before running out of the dungeons, ignoring the stares she was greeted with. This was it. This was how she would do it. This was how she'd defeat him.

She came to a standstill, her eyes wide as somebody popped into her mind.

Sirius.

Shit.

Instead of walking to the hospital wing and meeting up with the group, Hermione let her feet guide her to the common room. The red Gryffindor colours seemed too bright compared to the dull but warming green of Slytherin and it momentarily blinded Hermione.

"Miss Dumbledore....?" A second year, blonde haired student who was sat on the small sofa next to her best friend said.

"Mmmm?" Hermione replied back, she was too tired for this.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Hermione snapped, why did people always ask that one stupid question when it was obvious that she wasn't okay.

"Are you sure Miss Dumbledore? You don't look too good." The blonde haired girl spoke.

"Yes. Yes of course. I'm perfectly fine."

Hermione stumbled over her feet and traipsed over to the stairs, gasping and holding her hand to her chest, a throbbing pain coming from such place.

The young witch walked up a few stairs before having to stop, placing a hand on the wall next to her, keeping her steady.

"Breathe Hermione." She whispered to herself before her eyes began to close and her footing slipped.
