It wasn't until Kaytrin got to her cabin that she noticed the golden glow floating around her body. The grass looked healthier and greener when the glow touched it, and colors became brighter and sharper when she came near.
Her cabin had gold marble columns, and sunny yellow exterior walls. Inside were big windows that allowed lots of light into the room, and comfy furniture was everywhere. The walls were a relaxing green color with clouds floating across the blue ceiling, painted to look like the sky. Kaytrin suspected that the ceiling was enchanted to reflect how the sky looks outside.
A knock sounded at her cabin door.
"Come in!" Kaytrin called from the back of the room. She was peering into the bathroom tucked in the back corner.
"Wow, nice cabin," a female voice said.
"I like the sky," a male voice added.
Kaytrin stepped out of the bathroom to find a girl with short choppy brown hair, and a tall blond boy with electric blue eyes and a tattoo on his forearm, sort of like Percy's.
"Thanks. I'm Kaytrin. What are your names?" She asked.
"I am Jason Grace," said the blonde boy, "and this is Piper McLean."
"Nice to meet you."
"Congrats! I thought you would be in Athena's cabin because you look so much like them, but Tyche makes sense," Piper said.
"Uh, thanks," Kaytrin said as someone came in the door behind Piper and Jason.
"Hey, I heard that this the party cabin!" A skinny boy with dark curly hair and oil smudged on his orange Camp Halfblood shirt said. He had a big wicked grin spread across his face.
"Nope, it isn't, but come in anyway," Kaytrin said with a slight smile on her face.
"Oh, don't mind Leo, he was kidding," Piper said.
"Hm, well, it seems like I can trust you people. Do you happen know anything about London?"
"Oh, he is in the Apollo cabin. A lot of people have a crush on him for obvious reasons, like his looks, and he thinks he can do whatever he wants just because he is popular," answered Piper.
"Do you have any idea why he keeps trying to talk to me?"
"A lot of people are interested in you because of how different you are from most demigods, and you seem a little bit distant when you are not smiling. Everyone wants to learn more about you, and about how to make you smile more."
"Oh... I never realized that."
"But he probably wanted to get you to like him, so he would have even more fans."
Kaytrin frowned.
"London is cute, but very rude. I don't fall just for someone's looks."
"Uh... I am going to go," said Jason. "You can do girl talk, and stuff like that without me. See you!" He said, dragging Leo out with him.
"Hey! Jaaaasssssoooon! I wanted to
hear about the juicy stuff!" Leo protested.
Kaytrin laughed lightly, a smile on her face.
"You are beautiful when you smile. You should do it more often," Piper commented.
Kaytrin's pale face flushed pink. A golden hue started shining around her, tinting the things around her a more vibrant shade.
"You can glow," Piper pointed out.
"Yes. Luck is often symbolized as gold, so I guess that is why I can glow gold."
"Nice talent," Piper smiled.
"Who is your godly parent?"
"Aphrodite."
"The goddess of love and beauty."
"Yep."
A knock sounded at the door of Kaytrin's cabin.
"Come in," Kaytrin said, and started moving towards the door.
London's head popped out from behind the door, and it swung wide open. The door hit Kaytrin in the head, and she staggered backward.
"London! You will never have good luck ever again!" Kaytrin yelled. She began to glow again, but this time the glow was scarlet colored, the color of blood.
Everyone near the cabins could see what was happening. They all turned to look, and saw Kaytrin glowing scarlet, and London inching away from her. Piper was too amazed at Kaytrin to react.
Kaytrin's glow dimmed, and she collapsed. London went to catch her, but tripped. Piper instead caught her, and dragged her over to a couch.
"London, you should leave," Piper commanded using charmspeak.
"I will leave," He repeated after her, slipping on the steps on the way out.
