When Kaytrin woke up, she felt amazing. She remembered last night with London perfectly. She was so happy that she started humming as she got dressed.
When a knock sounded at her door, she went skipping over to answer it.
"My, you are in a good mood," Piper said.
Kaytrin radiated happiness, and she actually had a faint golden light shimmering around her. The good luck from her mother was covering her like a blanket.
"Let me guess: you were with London last night, right?"
"Yep."
"Rumors have been flying around that he likes you. This is big news. The best looking guy at Camp likes you, Kaytrin!"
"Are you sure about best looking, Piper?" Jason said as he came in the door behind her.
She laughed. "Maybe."
Jason pouted.
"Aw, fine. London is second best."
"Sorry Kaytrin, but I have to steal Piper for a minute," Jason said, and then picked Piper up. She shrieked as she was slung over his shoulder, and then laughed as he started running away with her.
"Bye, Piper!" Kaytrin called.
"Kaytrin!" Leo called from across the green. He jogged up to her. "So I was thinking that sometime this afternoon I start taking measurements for the robotic arm. I'll come find you later. Bye!" He said, then dashed of to talk to Calypso, his girlfriend.
Kaytrin took a few steps into the grass, looking for London.
She heard footsteps coming from behind her, and she whirled around, her spear in her hand.
"Woah, at least you can still use a spear well," Sam said.
"Oh, it's you. Sorry." She lowered her weapon.
"So, are you feeling okay? I heard that you may get a robotic arm."
"Does the whole camp know?" Kaytrin sighed.
"Yeah, basically."
"Well, about London—"
"I have gotten over it. End of discussion," Sam said.
But Kaytrin could tell that Sam wasn't over London. She was trying to hide an expression of pain.
"So, we were a pretty good team on the quest. We just need a little monster fighting practice."
"Yeah," Sam said, a smile appearing on her lips. "Do you still have your shield?"
"Yep. Right here on my arm. But I would have to bite the knot to activate it," Kaytrin said with a laugh.
Sam snickered. "I hope your robotic arm is awesome," she said as she started jogging away.
