Eventually they came within sight of the Chesapeake Bay, and circled for a good spot to land.
When they touched down, they thanked the pegasi and Kaytrin pulled some sugar cubes out of her pocket. They went crazy, each trying to be the first one to get it. Kaytrin ended up having to give a sugar cube to London and Sam, so they could each give their own pegasus a cube. Kaytrin was grinning with amusement by the time the three flying horses calmed down.
London turned to look at Kaytrin. "Woah, Kay...."
"What?" Kaytrin's smile disappeared. A frown took its place.
"Your smile... never mind. You probably get compliments about your smile all the time."
"What?... Whatever. Let's find Tyson."
They walked back and forth along the shore of the Chesapeake Bay, calling Tyson's name until a homeless guy sitting nearby told them to shut up.
They were about ready to give up when a very tall teenager walked out of the water. He literally just walked out of the water, and his clothes were completely dry.
"Percy's friends?" He asked.
"Are you Tyson, son of Poseidon?" Kaytrin asked.
"Yes! Yay, Ella, they are Percy's friends!"
"Who is Ella?" Sam asked, right when a big red bird swooped down from behind her, and landed on Tyson's shoulder.
"No, it isn't a bird," Kaytrin thought. "It has a human body, with red wings instead of arms, and small hands at the tips of the wings. It looks like a chicken crossed with a lady."
The chicken lady muttered, "Safe, safe, safe, Ella the Harpy is safe. Safe: adjective. Safe means unharmed, uninjured, unscathed. Strong. Ella is strong. Tyson the Cyclops is strong. And handsome," The chicken lady—Ella—blushed. But the remarkable thing was that Ella said all of that in just one small, quick breath.
"Uh... Hi, Ella," London said.
"So, Percy said that you have some weapons for us?" Kaytrin asked, getting straight to the point.
"Yes! Two shields for you girls, and a sword for him," Tyson said, pointing at London.
"Oh! We forgot to introduce ourselves," Kaytrin said. "My name is Kaytrin, and this is London, and she is Sam."
"Nice to meet you, Percy's friends," Tyson replied, blinking his big brown eye innocently. "Here are your weapons."
He handed London a wicked celestial bronze sword, and then he gave Kaytrin and Sam similar braided leather bracelets. The only difference was the color: one was red, and the other was dark blue.
"What is this?" Sam asked.
"They are your shields!" Tyson said, like that was obvious.
"Oh."
Sam immediately went for the red bracelet, so Kaytrin then took the dark blue bracelet.
"How do we activate them?" Kaytrin asked Tyson.
"Press the knot," He suggested.
Kaytrin presses the knot on her bracelet, and it immediately spiraled into a big, circular shield. It was surprisingly light, considering the size.
"Cool!" London said, looking a little jealous.
"Don't feel bad, London," Sam teased.
"You have a sword that can do some serious damage in a fight," Kaytrin said, and then glanced at Sam like she didn't like Sam teasing London.
But Sam happened to see Kaytrin glance at her with a disapproving expression. She frowned a little, discreetly studying Kaytrin.
"Good luck on your quest!" Tyson said, breaking up the awkwardness. Kaytrin was thankful that the big guy had a knack for interrupting the silence.
"Thanks, Tyson. We will use these weapons well. How do you deactivate the shields?"
"Shake it!" He said.
Sam looked dubious, but she and Kaytrin rapidly shook their shields. Sure enough, the shields spiraled and shrank smaller and smaller until it turned back into the knot on their braided leather bracelets.
"Cool. Thanks Tyson," London said. "But we should really be going now...."
"Right. Sam, time to go," Kaytrin said. So the trio hopped onto their Pegasi and flew off to Connecticut to find Alethia, the goddess of truth, and ask her about where they could find Tyche's cornucopia.

Woohoo! Tyson! Ella!
Okay, I am an awkward blue cookie. Goodbye.
From, yours truly,
Willow Hunter
