"Hello?" A sleepy voice answered the door, opening it to reveal Michael. Of course, he would answer the door, stupid empath. Stupid empath with his messy brown hair and warm eyes. His eyes that lightened with understanding when he saw me, "Oh, you're here for Wes."
"Actually," I stopped him. "I mean, yes, but uh, nevermind. Yeah, I am."
Michael gave me a confused yet slightly understanding look before opening the door wide to let me in. I watched him walk to their other roommate and grab him to leave before turning to look at Wes. He was laying in his bed when I got there, looking up from the bottom bunk. Once seeing me, however, he got up to welcome me to the couch.
"Hey," He said, grinning. "I got my roommates to leave, so we can talk in privacy."
I nodded, nervous at the concept of being alone in a room with him. Of course, that meant that Christine or anyone else couldn't show up at a horrible time again. Yes, actually, being alone with him was good, if nerve wrecking.
"So, uh," Wes said, getting nervous. "You're joining a club?"
"Well, not a club per se, I have an interview with Lore on Wednesday." I said, my face burning slightly. "We're going to be in college soon, so I need to start thinking about jobs and stuff."
"Uhu," Wes replied, not convinced. Still, he seemed to have something else on his mind. He scooted just a little closer to me, our legs close enough for me to feel the warmth of him beside me. "So, about earlier..." He said, "I meant what I said."
My heart rate quickened, he'd meant it? Why was I so surprised? I took a deep breath and nodded, "Yeah, uh, me too..."
We both smiled awkwardly for a moment, silence in the room. I could feel my face burning up, the blush heating up my face. We'd both done what we'd been dancing around for what seemed like forever, now what?
Wes seemed to decide, leaning forward on the couch to kiss me. I tensed in surprise when he did, frozen still for a moment before I kissed him back. I smiled brightly when Wes pulled away, we looked away from each other for a moment, our hands touching between us. I couldn't believe it, after all this time...
"Alenia!" Wes yelled, jumping back and pulling me out of my gooey thoughts. "Alenia, the couch!"
I jumped up as well, groaning when I noticed the couch on fire. "Oh my god, Wes, I am so sorry, do you have a fire extinguisher or?"
"No, we don't, Alenia, because we don't set shit on fire!" Wes snapped, the harshness of his voice cut me. I tried to ignore it, and Wes seemed to notice instantly. His face was apologetic, "I'm sorry, I just-"
"Yeah, yeah, I know," I said, frantically wondering what to do. The couch must have been mostly cotton, it lit up fast. "Do you have any water or..?"
"No, no," Wes said, worry evident in his voice.
It was then that Michael broke through the door with a fire extinguisher in hand. Behind Michael stood Tom, and it was apparent to me that they'd been spying on us. They're too much like my roommates. Michael rushed forward and put out the fire.
