Footsteps ambling in a slow choppy crowd to the auditorium. I could feel Harry next to me, more importantly I could feel his eyes on me. Today the darkness had return no matter how hard I had tried to keep it out.
When the large wooden double doors to the auditorium came in contrast to the white brick hallway I immediately let go of all thoughts. This used to be a place I would go, besides the willow tree. When I was first in middle school and things weren't that bad yet I would come here when everyone else was out and I would sing to no one. Just sing until I couldn't hear myself anymore and I was just at peace.
Mary found me once. She told me that I had a beautiful voice and that I was going to go far. That semester I transferred into her class.
When high school rolled around and everything became ten times harder I slowly stopped coming here, afraid someone would find me.
Stepping into the seemingly red velvet room I looked around to the large stage and the layers of curtains flowing in rows. The red felt seats lay still as no one sits in them. Only the slight glow from the lights around the room and the ones suspended above the stage, only they light the dark space.
Harry looks around and his green eyes gleam with this auditorium. This beautiful room with the baby grand resting just before the stage and the many halls leading from behind the flowing curtains, this room was the only part of this shit school I could bare.
The jade eyes meet mine and it's like I can see it in him. He was born for the stage. I never asked him about why he was in Chorus or anything really... but I can tell by the smile stretching his cheeks that there is something there.
It's not like I haven't been in here a million times and yeah it's just a room. But it's not... it's something to strive for, it's the safe place where we can begin.
"Alright." Mary says kicking off her "expensive" looking- probably from target- flats off and jumping up onto the glowing stage, "We have songs we're learning and I thought it would be special to bring it to a different arena." She smiles ear to ear. She loves this place too.
'I love this place' I mouthed to Harry. Like I said- I couldn't blame him for earlier and I needed him.
He looked around before nodding and smiling at me.
'Me too' He mouthed with those pink full lips. Oh how I would like to kiss those lips, feel the heat from his burning tongue as it tangles with mine. I- Stop. I warned myself.
I nodded and a blush rose onto my cheeks so I looked away quickly as if to hide from the brooding boy next to me.
I could feel his muffles laugh from just being in the vicinity.
"So I'm assuming- as most of you have had me before- that you brought your bags with you and have the music I gave you the other day." She says looking directly at me. I puff out my cheeks and scowl at the ground. Damnit, "Oh Elsie." She coos.
"Yes...?" I string it out and sway back and forth on my heels.
"Do you have said sheet of music?" She asks smiling wickedly.
