I walked home.

I couldn't bear to stay there. My face was raw and my abdomen hurt. Everything fucking hurt, all over again.

I took out my phone and called Violet. Hoping that she would answer and be able to tell Harry that I wasn't feeling well so I went home.

"Hello?" She asked frantically.

"Mathers." I acknowledged.

"Wrenn what the fuck?" She said roughly, "We've been so worried about you. Where are you?"

"I went home. I wasn't feeling well. Can you please tell Harry?" I asked weakly.

"Yeah of course. Are you okay?" She was becoming softer with every word.

"I'm okay. Jut please tell him I'm at home and safe." I plead.

"Elsie you don't sound sick. Have you been crying?" She asked, "They hurt you again didn't they..."

I whimpered at her words, releasing a strangled sob.

"Please don't tell him." I asked just above a whisper.

"But Else-,"

"No Vi. You can't tell him." I said.

"He can help baby girl." She sighed. The nickname was an odd comfort, "He'll understand-,"

"No, he won't. I just need to rest and then I'll be fine." I said.

"Alright. Promise me you're okay."

"I promise." I ended the call and walked up to my house.

My empty cold house.

I am truly alone

My hands are shaking as I try to shove the key into the lock. The knees under me are shaking incessantly and it takes everything in me not to fall against the door.

Tears cloud my eyes and cling to my lashes as the cold air hits my cheeks.

I can't do this much longer. I thought I saw hope- but I don't think there is any after all.

Yelling. So much yelling.

"Elsie wake the hell up!" I hear a hoarse voice scream from my door. I peel my eyes open and turn from my comfortable spot in bed.

"Mom?" I ask with a croaky voice. Jesus fuck my head is killing me.

"You're always sleeping!" Mara screams, "And when you're not sleeping, you're out. I don't know if you're eating, or staying healthy. I don't even know if you're doing your school work." Her voice gets calmer as she goes on.

I stare up at her with as strong of an expression as I can muster.

"You're lazy and irresponsible." She mutters. I look beside her and Jen is fighting the urge to calm Mara down.
