My first day in Dauntless wasn't exactly ideal.
When they came to wake us up,thankfully I was already wide awake because Tobias came banging some metal and told us we had 10 minutes to get ready, grab some food and start training.
I sighed deeply sitting on my bed waiting until everyone was done so I could use the showers.
I saw that Tris felt uncomfortable stripping naked in front of anyone but she did anyway.
I on the other hand didn't want to risk exposing my scars.I knew Dauntless valued strength.

People started leaving the dorms and just then I saw Eric reaching the door. When he saw I was still in my night clothes he frowned.
"You know princess you need to get over nakedness. You won't ever manage to eat breakfast if you keep waiting for everyone to finish so you can strip naked."

Little did he know I didn't care about exposing my body as much as I did for my scars on my back and my belly.
I nodded and quickly grabbed some clothes and went to change.

Well Eric was right.I didn't have time to eat breakfast so I went straight to training.
People started heading in and I saw that Tris had become quite close to Christina.
They didn't really talk to me so I just kept to myself.

"First thing you need to warm up so start running until I tell you to stop."Tobias said looking at each of us.
"I would advise you to take yours shirts off it can get very hot."Eric said casually which didn't seem to upset anyone.

I saw how everyone including boys and girls took their shirts.
They of course had provided us with sports bra that was big enough to come just on top of the girls's belly button. But my scars would be visible.
I started running ignoring Eric's advise.

After 10 minutes of running I was indeed too hot.I felt my neck soak up in sweat as well as my torso. My legs burned.

"Initiate, you will pass out take your shirt off." Eric yelled and rolled his eyes.

"I am fine." I said and pushed myself to keep going.

After 10 more minutes Tobias told us to stop and I took deep breaths trying to calm myself but I felt my vision blurring.

I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Adele? Are you okay?" Tobias's concerned eyes met mine.

Eric watched us with cold eyes.

I shook my head. There was no point lying I would pass out any minute.

"I am going to get her to the infirmary."Tobias announced and sneaked a hand under arms.
"Eric continue please."

Eric licked his lips and came closer.
"You are the instructor Four,I'll get Adelane to the infirmary keep training."He said taking a step closer to me.
Tobias opened his mouth to respond but Eric cut him
"It's an order."

Tobias sighed and let go of me.I lost my balance at first because I was leaning to my brother but Eric was quick to catch me quite gently actually.
"Common." he ordered and we walked out.

We kept quiet as we were walking.
"Why do you refuse to take your clothes off?You are Dauntless now you know."Eric asked out of blue without looking at me.

"I just didn't feel like doing it." I said hoping he would drop it.

Thankfully he did and didn't push the subject any more.

We finally reached the infirmary and Eric called a nurse.

A young woman in her 30s walked in and motioned me to sit on the bed.
I did as I was told.
"What is your name pretty girl?" she asked

I smiled "Adelane."

"And what did Adelane do in the first day,my fearless leader?" she asked playfully looking at Eric.

He didn't seem amused.
"They were running and she refused to take her shirt off so even though it was incredible hot. That and she didn't have breakfast." he explained.

The woman turned to me "Well will you take your shirt off for me to examine you?" she said softly.

Oh shit.

I knew Eric would bombard me with questions if I didn't so I slowly pulled my black shirt off.

I heard the nurse sigh at the sight of my stomach.
"Poor girl" she whispered.

While she checked on me I refused to look at Eric even though I could feel his eyes on me.Instead I focused on the wall in front of me.

She told me to turn my back and I let out a shaky breath as I turned.
There was silence for a moment.

When she finished she mentioned me to put my shirt back on and I quickly did.

I saw her eyes had watered a little.
"You can leave, you are fine just rest, eat and don't push yourself. Some of your scars are fresh so when you'll start fighting be careful." she said.

I nodded and got up to leave.
Eric grabbed my hand.

"Thanks Elena." he murmured and dragged me outside.

"So that's why." he said casually.

"What's your deal?" I snapped and I immediately regretted it.

Eric pinned me to the wall and brought his face inches from mine.

"Be careful how you speak princess.I don't tend to feel remorse for others regardless of their pasts's."

I nodded and he let go of me.

He left me trying to catch my breath.
