The Night

After the performance, Kaori and Kousei went home.

To Kaori, that word still seemed so foreign. She had never had a "home" in her mind. When her Dad died, everything she knew crumbled around her. She always feared that her Dad would turn in his grave if she gave a bad performance. So, she stopped playing. Until that fateful day 5 months ago. She met someone who would go on to mean everything to her.

He would be her new home.

Kousei Arima. Her fiancé! The man she would spend the rest of her life with. She always knew from the second she found out he was dying that when he left, she would leave too.

Practicing these past few weeks had drained her more than anything she had ever done, emotionally, mentally and physically. But it did not matter. She was doing what she loved with the man she loved. She gazed into his ocean blue eyes and knew this was what she had been put on this Earth to do.

Kousei had been lost for a long time. He came across as a happy go lucky teenager to those who met him and even to some who knew him, but this was all a facade. A mask.

He had known for some time that he would die.

He had given up. He was Stage 4 after all. Recovering from that requires a miracle. He didn't care what happened anymore.

That was until that fateful day. October 28th. The day he met Kaori. She made him care again.

His condition was not getting any better. Practicing as hard as he had been probably wasn't good for him but he had achieved his goal. He returned Kaori Miyazono to the stage. He had brought her back. She was his purpose.

The stars were sparkling brighter than they ever had. The night was glorious. It couldn't possibly get better. They were now engaged! They were to be married. How would they spend the rest of their lives?

One thing that they had not seen coming however was the bond. That was what they had named it.

Kaori was still clutching tightly to Kousei as they walked in the cool Spring night to their home. They both had the same thing on their minds.

"Let's see what this can do!"

Kousei sent a bit of love Kaori's way. All he had to do was think of how much he loved her and she could feel it. It was unlike anything she had ever felt. A warmth spread through her from her heart outwards. It was the same when they made physical contact with each other. Even the accidental touch of hands set them off. It was like a high of the best kind.

Her thoughts began to drift to the kind any teenager would have when they were with their partner. Kousei obviously read this and turned a crimson red.

"Not yet. We'll save that for later" He almost too quickly said.

"Fine." She pouted.

Kaori's POV

We reached the house and I realised something.

I hadn't gotten to give him his cake!

"Cake?" He asked

Damn bond!

"We're really going to have to learn how to use this thing aren't we?"

"Yeah. It's amazing but I can see a few places where it might not be so helpful."

I blushed. I knew what he meant.

"Close your eyes!" I said.

He complied.

I went to the fridge to retrieve the cake and put the candles in it.

He opened his eyes when I allowed him and I swear I saw a tear in his eye.

"I've never had a proper birthday cake before." He said.

"There's a first time for everything!" I exclaimed.

"What did I do to deserve you?" He asked

"I could ask the same thing." I whimpered.

As I lit the candles I began to sing Happy Birthday.

"Happy birthday to you,
  Happy birthday to you,
  Happy birthday my Kousei,
  Happy birthday to you!"

Kousei's POV

I was feeling so grateful at that moment. I also realised Koharu and Hiroko were not home. They weren't going to be either. I had gotten a text from her saying the house was ours tonight.

She ended the text with, "Don't do anything I wouldn't do. I'm too young to be a grandmother ;)"

I blushed a crimson red having seen that but at least she wouldn't give me grief over the tiniest things for tonight.

I was feeling playful. The cake was so amazing. It was white chocolate. My favorite! But what caught my eye was the icing swirls all around the outside of the cake.

I caught some icing on my finger and decided to try get Kaori with it but she knew I was coming before I did. She captured my lips in hers as I turned around.

"No you don't." Her voice echoed in my head.

We both melted in the kiss. It truly was just us. No interruptions, no embarrassing explanations, none of it. We were free to do as we wanted.

I didn't have a lot of strength but I had enough to lift Kaori at least. She was always so light.

I placed her on the table top as we fell deeper into the kiss. Her lips were so soft, the scent of her perfume was so sweet, her eyes like glistening diamonds. She was mine, forever. She was so passionate. My mind started racing a mile a minute.

"What do I do now?"

"Should I pull back?"

"Is she okay with this?"

She banished all my thoughts with 5 simple words.

"Shut up and kiss me!" I swear I heard her giggle resounding in my mind.

So I did as she said. It had quickly turned into a make-out session.

At one point, she had grabbed onto me like a koala bear and we were in the middle of the room kissing. I had melted so deep into it that I didn't care if my muscles hurt. All that mattered was us. Here and now.

I carried her up the stairs bridal style and set her down on our bed. This was where the fireworks really started. We didn't make it past kissing, we were sensible, but on the bed it was a lot easier for us to envelop every part of each other. Before long, there wasn't a single part of our bodies that weren't wrapped in each other. We stayed like that all night. Stealing kisses from each other into the early hours until we fell asleep in the exact same way we had on that night 5 months ago.

Intertwined...

A/N: Okay I hope you enjoyed that! I know the past few chapters have been really fluffy but I like thinking up cute scenarios for them. They will be getting close to each other guys but I will never write smutty chapters. If they ever do the business, I will not get into detail. There are plenty of other stories that do that a lot better than I could.

Anyway, there will probably be a time jump soon as the story is about 60% done at this point. I know how it will end but I'm just trying to figure out how to get there. You might see Tsubaki brought back, you might not. I only write Tsubaki chapters when my head is in a bad place as it helps get bad thoughts out.

This chapter almost turned out very different honestly. I was thinking of doing something drastic but I decided against it.

Thank you guys for your continued support! <3
