I sat in my house, bored out of my mind. My phone buzzed,

Clarity: BF sad?

I rolled my eyes,

No

Loading bubbles,

Clarity: Fine. Party later tonite?

I called her,

"Clarity, you know I don't party. I just wanna chill." I heard her groan on the other end,

"Then we can chill at the party. Crushy's gonna be there." I rolled my eyes,

"I keep telling you that Ethan's not interested." She snorted,

"Whatevs, I'm coming over and getting you ready for that party. Got it?" I groaned,

"Fine." She hung up and I slammed my face into a pillow.

I heard the doorbell ring and I ran to answer it. Clarity stood, smiling. I raised an eyebrow,

"You could've just walked in. You have a d*mn key. My parents probably love you more than they do me." She smiled at my remark and dragged me to my room. She pulled a couple of pieces out of my closet, throwing them back in and repeating the process. She finally emerged,

"You're definitely wearing this

"You're definitely wearing this." She beamed. I shook my head,

"If Ethan's gonna be there, I most definitely am not!" She threw it at me, pointing a menacing finger at me,

"Put it on." I sighed, going into the bathroom and showering. After finishing, I blow dried my hair and threw on the dress. As I walked out, Clarity smiled more. I spun as she motioned to me. She pulled something else out of my closet,

She smirked,

"I am totally stealing this from you." I shrugged,

"I don't wear it so... leave the shoes when you're done though, I like those." She tossed everything on and adjusted the jacket. I stood behind her in the mirror, fixing her casual waves. She smiled in the mirror and went to my makeup vanity. I grabbed a dark yet bright red lipstick to add a pop of color to my outfit. Clarity dabbed on a maroon to match her shirt.

I stumbled around, weaving in and out through people. Clarity stayed by my side and took a deep breath as we made it to the less crowded living room. I saw Ethan talking to his brother Grayson across the room. Clarity noticed too and shoved me. I tripped over my shoes and fell into Ethan's arms. He smirked, his cheeks flushing. I stood upright,

"Thanks." He nodded,

"How'd you get here?" I pointed at Clarity,

"Her mom drove." He smirked when I mentioned her,

"I could've taken you." I shrugged,

"You didn't have to. Yeah, we're neighbors and best friends but, like, I can do things alone." He held his hands up in mock surrender. I felt embarrassment creeping up on me, so I squeaked and ran. I could tell he thought I was crazy, but YOLO.

<><><><><> (10:00; at the party)

I was sitting, watching people dance. All of a sudden, Clarity disappeared. I went to find her, but didn't downstairs. I trudged upstairs, thankfully hearing nothing. I passed a room, hearing a voice speaking. I stopped when I realized it was Ethan's. I listened harder, not caring that I was eavesdropping. A female voice floated by,

"E-Ethan. No, wait. What?" Clarity. I kept listening,

"Clarity, I have no idea how to say it any clearer. I. Like. You." I dropped to the floor, barely audible over the music. Clarity stuttered,

"B-but you can't. Not now, not ever." Silence. Ethan,

"Don't act like you don't like me." Nothing. I heard Clarity,

"I very much do, but-" Faint noises. Kissing. I crawled away, getting up and slapping the wall. Clarity ran out of the room just as I began an impromptu conversation with Grayson. He smiled and complied as she walked up to me. She grabbed my arm, said something incoherent, and dragged me away. I tried to yank away from her, but she was determined to have my attention. She shoved me into the room, closing the door,

"You're not coming out until you do something about it!" I banged on the door,

"Come on Clarity!" I tried to open the door, but she was sitting against it. Lord knows how weak I am against her. Ethan was confused and sitting. I paced,

"I can't, I won't. Nope." Ethan stood up,

"What's going on Y/N?" I stared at his eyes, getting lost. Finally something came out of my mouth,

"I love you." His eyes widened and I cursed under my breath. He rubbed his fingers over his eyebrows,

"I-I'm flattered, but I don't like you like that. I like Clarity." Tears forced themselves out of my eyes and I hit the door,

"CUT THE D*MN BULLSH*T CLARITY! OPEN THE D*MN DOOR AND LET ME OUT BEFORE I BREAK IT DOWN!" I pushed against the door and it popped open. I stomped off, ignoring Clarity and Ethan.

I had gotten so many calls and texts from them both. I ignored it all and cried into my pillow. Light taps on my window interrupted me. I opened it, revealing Ethan in a white hoodie,

"What do you want?" He flushed looking at a tree branch,

"I wanted to apologize-" I rolled my eyes,

"For what d*mnit?! Liking my best friend when I liked you for who knows how long? No problem. Go away." I began to shut my window, but he held it open. Before he could speak, I cut him off,

"F*cking sh*t! Go away before I jump out this g*d d*mn window!" He looked surprised, but backed away and climbed down the tree. I slammed my window, rattling the glass. I cried myself to sleep that night, wondering what would happen if things were different.

=====

A/N,
Y'all, the ending is sh*t but I had to get it up for Tuesday. School sucks because we have testing for the next week. My brain is scattered, so I'm still posting Tuesdays and a random day, they just might be up at a later time. Also, ideas for plots... I need them. Grayson's latest tweets are somewhat good for that so, expect some Grayson tweet imagines. love you,
