I was broken. I was helpless. I needed someone and I wanted anyone. I was left, cold and alone, with nothing to live for. Until he  found me.

*Flashback*

It was a cold New Jersey night. Music was blasting in the car and my boyfriend, Lucas, was gripping the steering wheel as hard as he could. I started shaking uncontrollably as he jerked the car to the left, taking the short cut to the hospital. I rubbed his shoulder,

"Can you calm down please? We have time." He glared through the windshield,

"Time? I had 4 f*cking months  Y/N. Months! Now, I'm paying for it." I retracted my hand, knowing I was making the situation worse. 4 years ago, his sister was recently taken in for a well- child visit and they found out that she was pregnant. That was the good news. The bad news was that she had a 5% chance of the baby making it with her. She took a leap of faith and aborted. Years of pain and suffrage resulted in another one coming. Despite not knowing who the father was, she was happy to know she was going to have a healthy one. Just like the first one, she had slim chances of making it. She went ballistic and passed out, the doctors giving her another month or so to live. The end of her line was today. He swerved into a parking space, jumping out and running. I followed him anxiously, locking the car.

Hospital Room

12:00 at night and she still hadn't woken up. Her heart monitor was still going, so I wasn't worried. Lucas had fallen asleep next to her, enjoying every last caring moment he had with her. All of sudden, her body relaxed and her monitor flat lined. Lucas woke up, looking from her to the monitor in tears,

"No! Come back, please!" He sobbed loudly, alerting the doctors through the open door. They tried everything, deeming her time of death 12:30 a.m. I cried silently, tears dripping down my face as I watched them fall to the floor.

Car Ride Home

Lucas was distraught, swerving dangerously into an alley. All of a sudden he stopped the car,

"Get out." He closed his eyes angrily. I widened my eyes at him,

"What?" I backed away as far as I could. He glared at me,

"You heard me. Now get the f*ck out!" He barked in my face. I slowly gathered my things, getting out of the car and watching as he did the same.

**Trigger Warning for those of you that get offended by abuse. It is purely for the story**

He locked the car, making sure there was no one in the secluded alley. I backed against the wall, scared about his strange demeanor. He pushed against me, roughly slapping my cheek. I cried out in pain, falling to the ground, only to be dragged up by my hair. He made me face him, his usually bright eyes darkened to nothing. He slammed me against the wall, another deafening slap delivered across my face. He kicked my ribs as I fell to the ground. He spat at me,

"You remind me so much of her. I don't know why I enjoy this." He kicked my side again, the pain unbearable as I fought the blood threatening to leave my mouth. He chuckled darkly before kicking me once more. With that, he left me. Drove off, leaving me to whatever was to happen. I cried, fighting the waves of pain that engulfed me. Footsteps startled me, causing me to curl into a ball and wait for more pain. When none came, I opened my eyes, faced with a set of hazel ones. He held out his hand,

"Ethan." I looked at his hand, scared. He backed it away from me,

"What happened?" All I did was sob in response. I was about to say something, but blood sputtered from my mouth and I passed out.

Unknown Time Skip

I woke up in an unfamiliar place, my ribs and wrist wrapped in bandages. The Ethan guy from the other night walked in,

"Hey, you're awake." He smiled sweetly. My sarcasm fought to spring out, but I kept my manners in mind,

"Thanks, um, where am I?" I swept the room with my eyes. He waved a hand around the room,

"My house." He shrugged. I nodded slowly, scanning the room. He handed me a water bottle and two Advil. I smiled weakly, taking both quickly and downing half the bottle. He laughed,

"I'm going to need you to flip over." He looked me dead in my eyes and said such. I choked on some of my water,

"Excuse me?" I raised my eyebrow. He motioned to my waist,

"I need to check your ribs." He clarified. I cautiously flipped over, feeling his fingers press lightly into my side. I gritted my teeth, growling lightly at the pain. He removed his fingers,

"You're good for now. You can't move too much though."

1 year time skip

It had been a while since I'd met Ethan. We got to know each other for a while and we talked on the daily. The day I came back to see Lucas, he immediately broke down. He tried to hug me, but I cowered in fear, thinking he would hit me again. All he did was stare. I ran out and subconsciously drove to Ethan's house, not caring about where I was going. I ran into his arms and cried heavily. He caressed my back softly, saying nothing. I finally stopped, pulling back and staring at his face for a while. He stared back, his eyes flickering to my lips every so often. All of a sudden, he yanked me forward and pressed his soft lips onto mine. I wasted no time giving in, throwing my arms around his neck. He pulled me closer, breaking our lip contact,

"You're so beautiful. I want to keep you safe, I want to be yours and I want you to be mine. History is doomed to repeat itself and I can promise you that, with me, it won't. I love you Y/N." I looked back and forth between his eyes, stuttering over my response,

"I-I didn't have anything like this prepared. I don't even know how to say that I like you. I do want to be yours." He smiled,

"I guess it's mutual." He kissed me again, rubbing my cheek with his thumb.

*End Of Flashback*

I recap that day as if it was yesterday. The day he told me history wasn't going to repeat itself with him. Yet there I was, in a court room, responsible for throwing him in jail or letting him free to hurt again. I smoothed my dress,

"It was March 18th, in our bedroom. He got angry over me talking to a guy in Starbucks. When we got home, he fought it until we got to the room. He slammed me against the wall and slapped me. After I got up he said, and I quote, 'This is what you get for being an ungrateful b*tch. I gave you everything and you throw it away for a guy at Starbucks.' The judge cut me off after that, pounding his gavel,

"Guilty!" I shook my head, standing. The judge excused me and Ethan watched me go, his eyes watering as he whispered,

"Y/N, I'm sorry. I need  you." I shook my head again, rushing out of the room as fast as I could with heels on. He watched me go and, as I turned around, I saw him being taken away in handcuffs.
