Mom's Letter

Dear Lexi

I wish I could've been there for you on your birthday.

I suppose I knew all along that I was going to die someday but I never expected to not see you grow up.

Let me start from the beginning.

When I first started seeing you on the screen, when you were almost fully developed I wanted to cry, the doctor had said that you would be born without a hand. I didn't want you to be different, the doctor showed me that your hand was gone but the next time I went for my appointment it was there again.

I had seen this before but in different cases and I knew that you were special, I couldn't tell anyone, not your father, not your brother no one.

I went to someone that was familiar with people like you but his name is confidential.

He told me that I would most likely die when I gave birth to you because of your supernatural powers. Some mothers do live but they go through hell. Well I went through a painful pregnancy, lots of aches and pains and my breathing would always feel heavy and the more emotional I was, the worse I felt

It was strange. I'm not an expert in this but all I know is that you should have received your full power. Which I assume is invisibility.

You are only supposed to open this when you are seventeen, so I guess today's your birthday.

Tears were flowing down my cheeks and I watched as my body went invisible.

Stupid emotions.

I heard a knock and my heart rate picked up, making it impossible for me to turn back to normal.

"Lexi?" I heard Kate say and then she walked through my door.

"Where you?" She asked looking around.

"I'm right here, but I can't control these stupid powers," I said in frustration.

"Ok just breath, take your time." Kate said looking in my direction.

I took a deep breath and I flickered into sight again.

Kate relaxed and pulled me into a hug.

"You alright?"

I nodded and sighed.

"Lets go have fun." Kate said grabbing my hand and pulling me off of the bed.

I smiled and hid the letter under my pillow. I followed Kate out my room and downstairs where Cameron was being attacked by pillows. I chuckled and pulled Cameron out of the pillow fight.

"Omigosh, I swear these two are ADD, they are beyond hyper." Cameron said out of breath.

I chucked and nodded.

"It's your fault that they are so obsessed over you." I smirked at him.

"Hay, I can't resist being so good looking," He smirked.

I swatted his arm and moved towards Jenna and Amber as they were trying to catch their breath.

"I'm ordering the pizza." I shouted out towards upstairs for my dad to here.

"Ok" He shouted back.

We all sat in a circle on the three mattresses that we had brought down.

We ate our pizza and were just talking, the gossip would only start once Cameron and my dad were asleep, we had already watched a scary movie and poor Cameron had to sit between Jenna and Amber. I couldn't stop laughing.

"I'm going to go," Cameron said awkwardly and got up between the two Cameron fans, the movie had just ended and I was feeling exhausted, today had been such as emotional day.

"Night girls," My dad called from the top of the stairs, he was in his blue checkered pajamas already.

"Night," I replied with a sweet smile.

We all turned the lights off leaving just the two small lamps on by the side of the tv and the other lamps by the couch.

"Gossip time?" I asked,

We all sat in a small circle and the question that always pops up first is 'who do we like?'

"Cameron!" Amber said a little bit too loudly,

"Me too" Jenna replied.

"Lexi?" Kate said encouraging me,

"No one really, I just have to say that the new guy in year twelve is like beyond hot!" I said smiling weirdly.

"Aww, Lexi Phillips has a crush." Amber cooed,

I shook my head and a small blush crawled up my cheeks.

"I don't have a crush, I just think he is hot." I said like I was stating a fact.

"Ya ya," Amber said giving me a smirk,

I sighed and quickly changed the subject,

"So Kate, have you and Oliver, you know, done it?" I said putting the spot light on her.

Kate's cheeks instantly turned red. "Yes..." Kate said softly, like she almost didn't want us to hear,

"What!" Jenna shouted,

"Shhhh!" We all said to Jenna.

Jenna held up her hands in surrender and we all turned our attention back to Kate.

"Details." I stated,

"Guys that's a personal thing."

"We are as personal as you get, now we want details." Amber said,

We all smiled brightly,

"Ok so it was Saturday night after the party, and well I went home with him and we just started making out in the car and it sort of moved up to his room and soon all our clothes were off and we had done it." Kate said a bit awkwardly the blush in her cheeks going more red.

So now it was just me and Amber, Jenna had gotten drunk the one evening and did it and now Kate has.

"Congrats my friend!" I squealed and pulled her into a hug.

This gossiping carried on for another half an hour until Jenna had passed out snoring on the mattress and we all followed suit.
