Steve and Y/N made it to the building Peggy was in and went inside. They went to her room to see her lying in bed, looking sick. They sat by her on her right and looked at her photos of her with her husband and kids.

"You should be proud of yourself, Peggy," Steve told her.

"You should," Y/N agreed.

Peggy joined their gaze for a moment.

"Mm. I have lived a life. My only regret is that neither of you got to live yours," Peggy told them.

Steve and Y/N wore sad faces.

"What is it?" Peggy asked.

"For as long as we can remember, Y/N and I just wanted to do what was right. Since Y/N was just found, I guess I'm not quite sure what that is anymore for me. And I thought I could throw myself back in and follow orders, serve. It's just not the same," Steve commented.

"Well, now that I am, I see where you're coming from. I wish that too," Y/N responded.

Peggy chuckled at that.

"You seem more yourself than I thought after just being unfrozen," Peggy commented.

"Well, I now think of it like this. Steve has had more time to do something. I've missed taking orders and taking out Hydra, but I need to move on. It will be hard when I'm still stuck in the past though," Y/N explained.

"You both are always so dramatic. Look, you saved the world. We rather...mucked it up," Peggy said.

"You didn't. Knowing that you helped found SHIELD is half the reason I stay," Steve responded, making Y/N smile.

Peggy took Steve's hand in one while she took Y/N's hand in the other.

"Hey. The world has changed and none of us can go back. All we can do is our best, and sometimes the best that we can do is to start over," Peggy told them.

Then she started coughing, so Steve got her some water and was about to hand it to her.

"Peggy," Steve called.

Then Peggy looked at the siblings like she was seeing for the first time since they were frozen. This was only true for Y/N.

"Steve? Y/N?" she said.

"Yeah?" they answered.

"You're alive! You...you came, you came back," Peggy replied.

Y/N was a little confused, but both she and Steve remembered what she had. So they just went with it.

"Yeah, Peggy," Y/N said while Steve nodded.

Peggy then started crying as she remarked, "It's been so long. So long."

"Well, I couldn't leave my best girl. Not when she owes me a dance," Steve smiled softly.

Y/N started tearing up too. She cried for Peggy, for Bucky, for their squad, for anyone back in the war. All of this was hard on her too. Steve hugged her as he held Peggy's hand.

At that time, Nick saw he was locked out of SHIELD, so he turned to his friend, Alexander Pierce, for help.

A/N That was sad. And I mean in the emotional way. And with Fury not being able to get into SHIELD's file, something's definitely up.
