Chapter 37: "We're With You to the End of the Line"

Sam and Rumlow continued to tussle for a minute.

"You're out of your depth, kid," Rumlow smirked.

That's when the first Helicarrier came crashing into the building. It got Rumlow in the destruction as Sam ran like hell.

"Please, tell me you got that chopper in the air!" Sam requested through his com to Natasha.

"Sam, where are you?" she asked.

"41st floor, north-west corner!" he told her.

"We're on it, stay where you are," Natasha told him.

"Not an option!" Sam yelled, continuing to run.

The Helicarrier continued to cause some damage until Sam leapt out the window into the helicopter, almost falling out.

"41st floor! 41st!" Sam corrected.

"It's not like they put the floor numbers on the outside of the building!" Nick pointed out.

"Hill, where's Steve and Y/N? You got a location on both Rogers'?" Natasha asked.

As the third carrier fell, Steve and Y/N made their way to Bucky. Steve went to one side while Y/N rushed to Bucky.

"Hold on, baby. We'll get you out," Y/N assured, placing her hand on his cheek.

(A/N The hand that's sprained is the hand you don't write with.)

The siblings lifted the debris off of Bucky and all three of them got up. Steve then signaled her to back away and she obeyed, even though she knew what was coming.

"You know me," Steve told him.

"No, I don't!" Bucky yelled, lashing out at him.

"Bucky, you've known me your whole life," Steve said, Bucky hit him without him fighting back, then Steve continued, "Your name is James Buchanan Barnes."

"Shut up!" Bucky yelled, hitting him again.

Steve took off his mask and dropped his shield through the carrier.

"I'm not gonna fight you. You're my friend and the one my sister loves," Steve told him.

Bucky got Steve on the ground.

"You're my mission," Bucky remarked, then repeatedly punched Steve in the face with his metal arm, and yelled, "You're my mission!"

"Then finish it," Steve said weakly, making Bucky hesitate, then Steve told him, "Cause we're with you to the end of the line."

Bucky was in shock, as if he was starting to remember him.

"Bucky," Y/N said, he turned to her, and she told him, "I've been with you since the beginning and I want to be with you even after the end."

Then realization hit Bucky even more as the bottom of the Helicarrier fell, which sent Steve down into the river below. Y/N dove down to save him as Bucky watched from the Helicarrier. Steve was sinking and Y/N tried to help until she was about to drown. Then there were both being pulled out of the water and dragged onto the shore by Bucky.
