Midoriya remembered nothing but intense pain.
His eyes slowly blinked open as he sat up in a infirmary bed, rubbing his head with a light groan of pain. He felt movement near his feet and wasn't even able to focus on his surroundings before a pair of strong arms enveloped him in a hug.
"Deku! Are you OK? You broke one of your arms and both of your legs! It was a pretty high fall. You're such an idiot." The concerned voice was matched with Bakugou's and that surprised Midoriya.
"K-Kacchan? What are you doing here?"
"Yeah, what are you doing here, hedgehog-head?" A new voice sounded from the doorway as Uraraka walked in, quickly running to Midoriya's side and hugging him once Bakugou let go. "You saved me, Midoriya! Thank you!" She squealed happily, earning an annoyed growl from Bakugou.
"Deku, what the fuck were you thinking? I know you've been training and all that shit, but you went for the massive robot guy? Really?" Bakugou rolled his eyes a little, shaking his head. Uraraka turned on him.
"You're just jealous his quirk is so much cooler than yours!" She glared at him, actually throwing Bakugou off for a moment.
"What? The fuck world are you on? Deku is quirkless..." He looked over at Midoriya questioningly, for once not looking so certain, "Right...?"
Midoriya just looked away, shrugging a little.
"Deku.." Bakugou's tone was scarily soft. "Do you or do you not have a quirk?"
There was silence for a moment.
"I do."
A sudden loud bang and a spark erupted from Bakugou's hand as he stood up, pushing his chair back. His crimson eyes were narrowed as he glared down at the green-haired boy in the recovery bed.
"You... lying... bastard!" He yelled, provoking Uraraka to stand up and gently pat his shoulder. Bakugou started to float, spewing curses and insults at the both of them.
"Release!" Urakara yelled, pulling her fingers apart and making Bakugou drop to the ground. The spikey-haired blonde huffed and stormed out of the room, fuming with rage. This was visible as there was steam physically burning off of him.
Midoriya looked down once he left, feeling horrible for not telling Bakugou about his new quirk and making him feel so angry. He didn't look at Uraraka, who was staring at him curiously.
"I'll.. see you around, Midoriya." She rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly and Midoriya nodded in a response. She hugged him one last time before leaving. Midoriya laid back with a sigh before he heard shoes tapping on the floor and stopping beside his bed. He looked up and saw an old woman with a hair bun and closed eyes.
"Uh.. h-hello.." He stuttered, earning a chuckle from the old woman.
"No need to be so formal! I'm Recovery Girl, I'm the one who healed you with my quirk. I've come to say you can go now, just take it easy on using One For All again." She raised her eyebrows, cutting Midoriya off from saying thank you and questioning how she knew, "All Might told me all about it. I saw how you did in the entrance exam, I have the footage now. You can take it home and assess it yourself." She brought out an old VHS and smiled at him warmly.
"Thank you, Recovery Girl!" Midoriya smiled, giving her a little hug before standing up. Recovery Girl gave him a crutch to lean on as he left, waving goodbye. Midoriya smiled to himself as he limped out, starting to walk home. He limped over to Bakugou, who was just standing outside and staring at the sun.
"Kacchan! I'm sorry I-"
"Shut the fuck up, Deku. If you're here to gloat, then don't. That bitch showed me footage of your 'amazing quirk' and I don't really know what to feel about it. Why did you not tell me? Why did you make me think you were quirkless and weak? Why did you let me hurt you so much?"
Midoriya was rendered speechless.
Bakugou sniffed, turned and walked off. "See you maybe, Deku. Just so you know, you aren't an exception anymore."
He wasn't an exception anymore.
