Chapter 38

Izuku wasn't sure exactly when he passed out, but it happened. When he woke up, he didn't recognise his surroundings as he sat up, rubbing his head and scowling. He practically forced himself to remember what had happened before he'd lost conciousness and only half-wanted to forget it ever happened.
He had been practically flying through the air, his quirk boosting him along as he tried to reach the station. He'd lost Uraraka quickly as she hadn't been able to activate her quirk in time to catch up. Izuku was perfectly happy with that. He didn't want to talk to her at that moment anyway. The power boost continued for a while until...
SMASH
He'd 'flown' straight into something. This something with freezing to the touch and hard as rock. His head had hit against it, making a sickening cracking noise. All he could remember from then was the cold completely covering him and his vision fading to darkness.

Katsuki was, in a word, panicking. As usual though, he didn't let this show and replaced it with anger.
"That Half 'n Half bastard talks bullshit! He's the one that tried hurting Deku, not me!"
"Deku?" The police seemed puzzled as they scribbled something down.
"Childhood nickname, that isn't the point though. Todoroki is lying, don't you see that!? Do you have a lie detector here, or are you just going by his words? He has no proof! You have no proof!" Without meaning to, his quirk blew the handcuffs off of his wrists. Ah shit. The officer to the left flicked his hand, making the cuffs hover and a new pair to come flying in from the storage room.

Officer Sugita
Quirk: Levitation

Officer Sugita glanced at his companion, who glared at Katsuki, but didn't move.
"If you want any chance of us believing a word you say, stay seated and listen carefully." He leaned forward, taking the handcuffs and restraining his hands again. There was a pause of silence before the second officer spoke.
"When was the last time you physically used your explosion quirk against Midoriya?"
Bakugou had his lips moving before he could comprehend the question.
"Sometime when we were in junior high. I stopped when we got to UA."
The officer seemed satisfied, as if it was the first time he'd heard it.

Officer Kenjiro
Quirk: Truth-speak

"Excuse us a moment, Katsuki." Sugita and Kenjiro stood up, walking out of the interrogation room to talk among themselves. Bakugou finally let his worries out and his panic show. Todoroki was behind this, so he had a sneaking suspicion why. What was it that Midoriya had said in that cafe?
'Because of my connection with All Might... wait, oh crap-'
Katsuki wasn't an idiot. He was starting to piece things together. Shouto was the son of the no. 2 hero, Endeavour. OK, he had that. Midoriya was closer to All Might than any other student, another thing he had. He made a list of the things in his head.

3. Todoroki tried beating up Midoriya
4. Midoriya was accused directly of being closer friends with All Might
5. Endeavour would be the no. 1 hero if All Might was gone.

Wait.
As the truth finally dawned on him, the colour left his face.

6. If he were there, he wouldn't hesitate to hurt Todoroki if he merely lay a finger on Midoriya
7. Todoroki got him here
8. He was here so that he'd be out the way

'Shouto you clever bastard. Too bad you underestimated me and just the lengths I'd go to protect Deku.'
