Deduction
The colour of a bruise may indicate how old it is, but is also not an accurate method. For example, two bruises on one person that are of the same age and cause can look different from each other and may not heal or change at the same rate.

Red (swollen/tender) = 0-2 days old
Blue/Purple = 2-5 days old
Green = 5-7 days old
Yellow = 7-10 days old
Brown = 10-14 days old
No colour shown/no evidence of bruising = 2-4 weeks old
