~Evan Hansen's POV~
Connor, Zoe, and I exchanged numbers before I headed home. I arrived home, walking in and shutting the door behind me. I acknowledged my mom's presence as I felt concern fill my senses. I heard frantic footsteps come down the stairs as my mom embraced me in a tight, sentimental-filled hug.
"Where were you? I was worried sick!" she exclaimed, examining my arms and other limbs for any injuries. "I was.... at Jared's. We were studying for... umm... any upcoming tests that the school may spring on us, y'know?" I chuckled nervously. My mom smiled, "I understand that completely, honey. Just please, call me before you go somewhere,"
That... That was easier to make her believe than I thought it would be...
I gave a quick nod, smiling and kissing her cheek before running upstairs to my room. I pulled out my notebook, scribbling down some things that happened during the day. I heard my phone buzz a few times, in which I picked it up. Zoe had added Connor and me to a group chat. Oh, great.
hotdamnitszoe: Hey dudes
Connor_Murphy420: God help us all
EvanH_personal: Um hi

Connor_Murphy420: The fucking ceiling, are you blind?

EvanH_personal: I don't think that's how it works, Jared
ItsJaredKleinmanBitch: Tell the author that

EvanH_personal: What subject was your highest grade in?
ItsJaredKleinmanBitch: Science

I woke up the next morning around 7:00, getting ready and heading off to school. I entered the building, going through my normal school routine. I was about to leave my locker when Connor suddenly appeared. "Hey, Hansen, wait up!" he shouted. I turned around, facing him and giving him a questioning look.
Sincere, uncomfortable, nervous
"Hey, I know we don't talk much, but I just wanted to say I'm thankful for you saving me yesterday. I quite literally owe you my life," he chuckled nervously. I smiled, "It's no problem, I honestly wasn't going to let you do that." Connor shrugged, tucking a lock of hair behind his ear.
"Do you mind if we talk for a little?" I questioned, gesturing to the school exit. "We're going to be late for class," he reminded, giving me a questioning look. "It's important, I honestly don't mind missing a few classes," I responded. He nodded, allowing me to lead him outside.
We walked outside to the outdoor plaza, which was a small eating spot for any kids who would like to get some fresh air during lunch. Sure, it seemed like a public place, but hardly anyone actually knew about it.
((TW: Self-harm mentions))
I sat down at one of the picnic tables as Connor sat next to me. "Connor, can I see your wrists?" I inquired, quickly adding, "You don't have to show me if you feel uncomfortable doing it," He chuckled, rolling his sleeves up. I saw the cuts and scars I had seen previously, in which I studied them.
"Razor, huh?" I asked, recognizing the marks. Connor nodded. "It's no big deal, Hansen," he added, flinching a bit as I lightly traced the marks with my finger. "If you ever feel like cutting, please text me, call me, or even meet me in person if you find it necessary. I don't want you to feel like this. Please, don't do this to yourself," I frowned, hoping he would listen.
((TW over))
"Hansen, it's not that easy-" "Connor, I know." I interrupted. "But you wouldn't understand-" "I understand more than you would ever think I would," I assured, giving him a truthful and stern look. He shakily took a breath. "Okay," he gulped. "Connor, calm down. Breathe. If you don't mind me asking; why did you attempt?" I inquired with sincerity, lightly rubbing his arm. He looked away.
"I don't know," he whispered. "Connor, please don't try this. Please. I may not know you very well, but what I do know is that no one deserves to disappear," I assured in a soft voice. He looked up at me. "I'll try, Hansen, but only because if I killed myself, Zoe would resurrect me and kill me again," he chuckled as if it was no big deal.
I shrugged as he rolled his sleeves back down. "We should get to class, we've already missed half of it," he reminded again. I nodded, "Okay,"
((Goddamnit Connor chuckles a lot))
