As I arrived back home, I shut the door, throwing my bag to the ground and pulling some books out of it to bring with me upstairs. Of course, when I walked up the stairs, Zoe was there. "What do you want, Zo?" I asked, irritated. She had that weird smirk on her face again as she wrapped her arm around my shoulder.
"How was the library?" she questioned. "Just like always," I groaned, annoyed by the physical contact. "How about Evan?" she continued. "Oh my god," I muttered, "Yeah, I'm gonna go to my room. I have better things to do,"
I shimmied out of her grip, walking to my room and slamming the door, locking it. I opened one of the new books I had borrowed, starting to read it. Time flew by, and before I knew it, it was one in the morning. "Well, shit," I mumbled to myself as I folded the corner of the page I was on, closing it. I set the book down, turned off the light, and laid down.
The next morning, I went downstairs to grab my bag before going back upstairs to actually pack it with stuff I'd need for the day. Goddammit, I always take the hard way, don't I? I then walked back down the stairs and sat at the breakfast table. Zoe just smirked at me.
"I didn't see you last night, Con. How was your day yesterday?" my mom questioned, giving a warm smile. I just looked up at her with a blank expression. "Uh, it was fine. Okay, what's going on, I'm never the subject at the table," I said, standing up and slamming my hands on the table suspiciously. I glared at Zoe as she just rolled her eyes, "I didn't do it."
My mom just sighed, "Connor, I know we don't talk about you a lot, I just wanted to know how your day went," I furrowed my eyebrows, "Fine," Larry looked up from his papers, eyes landing on Zoe and I, "Oh, hi Connor," My mom slowly turned to glare at Larry. "Did you not even acknowledge your own son at the table or are you too busy with your emails, Larry?" she questioned, irritated with him.
"How am I supposed to know he's there? He makes no noise!" Larry replied, almost shouting. Zoe backed up. "Okay, let's go. Come on, Con," she said, grabbing my wrist and leaving our parents to fight. Zoe drove me down to school, constantly rambling about Alana and Sab. We pulled up to the building, and I wasn't going to wait for her to stop the car just to get out, so I opened the door and casually jumped out of the moving vehicle.
Zoe parked and walked up to me, "Jesus, what you do just to get away from me," "I just don't want to put up with you," I replied, laughing internally. She rolled her eyes, spotting her friends and rushing to them. I lost Zoe in the crowd of students. Finally. I opened my locker like every day, throwing in my bag and slamming the locker.
A loud bang rang out through the hallway but was quickly drowned out by the loud voices of others. I turned to see Evan in the distance, on the floor. He seemed scared, yet sad and happy at the same time. Tears welled in his eyes and he was shaking severely, yet he had a small smile on his face.
I grew concerned as I headed toward him. I crouched down, gripping his shoulders. "Hansen, are you alright?" I asked, concerned. He looked up at me, pulling me into a hug. I collapsed onto my knees, hugging him back. He melted into the embrace and I felt him bury his face in my hoodie.
I blushed a little but knew there was something going on, which is why I didn't think much of it. "Are you alright?" I repeated. He pulled away and looked up at me. He nodded. "Then why are you crying?" I questioned. He suddenly started laughing, then blushing. This weird behavior was rather confusing and creepy, as I had no idea what was going on.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," he laughed, wiping his eyes. He then started quivering again. "Hansen, please. I will believe you, I promise," I assured. He smiled a little, "I don't know how, I don't kn-know why, but I have a sixth sense," he explained.
I gave a questioning look, urging him to continue. He obliged, "I can feel the emotions of others. I-I know it sounds crazy, but if I'm crying one moment, then I go to laughing, then I lash out in anger, it's not because those are m-my emotions. They're someone else's," My eyes widened, "Does that mean you can feel what I'm feeling?"
He nodded. "You're obviously confused, a little irritated, intrigued, and upset a little," he replied. "I'm upset?" I questioned. "Yes, you may not realize it, but you kind of have this forever-lasting sad persona, and when it's at it's worst and you're near me, I normally would break down in sobs," he explained.
"That day... In the bathroom, is that why you were crying?" I asked, now interested in everything he was telling me. He nodded. I have to be careful of my feelings, though, when I'm around him. I looked at him and a deep blush dusted across his cheeks.
"What did you just feel now?" I questioned. "U-Um... Do you have a-any feelings for someone?" he asked in response. I shook my head, "Not that I know of," Evan nodded, "O-Okay, I just had this feeling like someone has fairly light feelings for someone else, but it's not anything very severe." he said, biting his lip.
I suddenly felt my face heat up, "O-Oh. Um... how do you deal with everyone's emotions at once?" He shrugged, "When I turn nineteen or twenty, I'll be able to only feel the emotions of those I would like to," he replied, me nodding a bit.
He had to go to class, and I watched him walk away. I was more focused on his actual personality. How am I supposed to know which was actually his? A feeling for someone. Romantically? I thought about it for a second, thinking about how I actually felt about him.
Holy shit.
I'm so gay.
