Song of the Chapter: To My Youth - Bolbbalgan4
'During those beautifully beautiful days, I was in pain. I hated myself for not being able to receive love. My mom and dad, they're only looking at me. It's not how I really feel but I keep getting farther away. What do I do?'
⚡️⚡️⚡️
"No, no, no no no!" I knocked on the door with my fists, hoping that someone would hear me from the other side. But what are the chances of someone else coming to the top of this building? I took a step back preparing to unleash a kung-fu kick to the door, but someone interrupted me the second I inched my leg forward.
"What are you doing here?"
I held back my kick as I registered his voice, instantly recognising the same old question coming from the same man, Kim Jongdae. When did he drop from the sky?
"And why are you always kicking something? First was the vending machine, now this door... Do you have a lot of leg strength?"
My eyebrows twitched and I pivoted around to face him. In the centre of the rooftop space there was a wooden bench and Jongdae was sitting in the middle of it.
"Erm," I started, suddenly blank of a response. Speak properly, Rosie!
"I was j-just trying to get out," I pointed awkwardly at the door.
Jongdae folded his arms and smirked in disbelief. "You came here just to get out?"
"No, I came here but I wanna get ou-, so, I mean, I wanted to come here to j-just- well, ugh!" I groaned at myself in the end.
Sometimes, it's better to keep quiet Rosie.
Why am I even getting nervous in front of him? I inhaled a deep breath to calm myself down and spoke again. "I was going to come here alone and I didn't expect you to be here. But since you are, I'll take my leave." Without waiting for his response, I headed towards the exit confidently and twisted the doorknob, but it couldn't be opened.
Duh, you need your damn staff pass!
I shut my eyes frustratedly and groaned again. Why is this happening to me... I turned back around very unwillingly and forced a smile at Jongdae. "Erm, do you mind lending me your staff card? I... forgot to bring mine."
For 5 cold seconds I stood there awkwardly and waited for his response, but he just sat there to look at me with amusement. "I don't intend to walk over," he finally replied. He actually looked like he was enjoying this.
Is he back to being a mean jerk again?
"You!" I wanted to raise my voice, but let's not forget he's my only solution out of here. Be nice, Rosie.
"Since you're here," Jongdae tapped the bench space beside him. "Come here."
I was hesitant at his invitation because I couldn't figure if he was being the nice or mean Jongdae now. Why is he suddenly offering me to sit there with him? Am I the only one who finds it suspicious? I scratched my head as I fought the debate in my head, but no matter what, it boiled down to one conclusion - I don't have a choice now because I'm the one who's stuck on the rooftop... if I don't go there, where else can I run off to?
Reluctantly, I took small shy steps towards the bench and made an effort to sit on the extreme edge to be my furthest away from him.
"Am I that uncomfortable to sit with?" He frowned at it. I wasn't trying to make it obvious that I was steering clear of him but it was still very obvious.
