Episode 2: Talons and Wings!

"I DON'T KNOW," The pink haired mage with fire powers spoke up, a flame burning on his hand as he roasted the piece of meat further before chomping on it. "Maybe it's just a weird bird." He shrugged, continuing to eat. Now, everyone was looking at Y/n and she absolutely hated it. Panicking, she pretended to act stupid, pecking at her feathers.

The scarlet haired mage which Y/n recognized to be none other than Titania, subtly agreed. "The bird seems pretty normal. What was the description of our mission targets again?" She questioned, looking towards the blonde haired mage. As she changed her stance, Y/n caught the glint of light that shined on her keys. A celestial mage? She thought.

Taking out a scroll, she was about to roll it out. Now's my chance! Y/n cheered internally as she swooped down and hooked the paper to her claws, squawking like a bird as the others shouted at her. "Get back here, you stupid bird!" The pink haired mage shouted, catching up to her since his exceed was flying him.

Y/n narrowly dodged a flaming fist, chirping angrily as she threw the scroll up. Catching it with her beak, she turned and dove at a high speed, scratching Natsu in one eye before flying up again. "Shit!" She heard him curse. Another blast of wind nearly threw her off, revealing the blue haired girl earlier, accompanied by Carla.

"Be careful, Wendy!" Natsu yelled as a precaution.

Y/n flapped her wings, preparing for Carla to charge at her. Last minute, she flew straight up, her feathers nearly brushing the clouds before she dived back down. Switching the scroll from her beak to her talons, she used her beak to grab Carla's tail and bring her down with her. She flew quickly before dropping Carla from a height, using that as a distraction.

Flying back to the mountaintop, she went back to human form, panting. "They're after us. I bought some time, but I don't know how long." They all shared a look, quietly nodding. Akane's fingers were covered with a buzzing purple hue, shocks of electricity bouncing off of them. "I'll create a barrier for you when you shift," She glanced back at Y/n.

The girl nodded, crying out in pain as her hands pierced into the ground. Chase placed his hand on her shoulder as support, channeling some of his magic energy into her and giving her more power. The fang on the side of her neck glowed brightly, fingernails becoming claws as skin became scales.

The raw cry that she had been letting out had turned into a layered scream, distorting her voice into a much more horrifying tone. She enlarged and enlarged, becoming much, much bigger than the rest of her teammates. Chase threw a passed out Nikos over his shoulder, preparing for 'liftoff'. Galena leaped onto Y/n's tail, planting herself by keeping her boots on Y/n's scales.

Placing her hand on the back of Y/n's still growing dragon form, her hands glowed a pretty green aura as she healed and supported Y/n as best as she could. "They're here!" A shout near the mountaintop only alerted Y/n to speed up the process. Quickly growing to her full form, she let out a threatening roar.

Akane knelt beside Galena on the scales, purple buzzing at the end of her fingertips as her barrier curled around Y/n's form, creating a nearly invisible armor. Chase hopped on last, throwing some fireballs at the ground they had left behind in an effort to blind their opponents. Y/n let out another roar as a warning as she flew higher.

Chase used his powers to wrap chains around Y/n's abdomen and the rest of them, keeping them hooked onto her. In an odd way, it was a deadly roller coaster. She dipped down for a bit, screeching when a sword deflected off of her tail. The attempts of attacking soon stopped, Y/n flying for about sixty more miles before seeing another island.

"Land there," Chase patted her scaly back. She let out another roar, one of compliance. Y/n had been growing fatigued too. Galena had only been able to support her so much, eventually passing out and taking a rest. Nikos, on the other hand, had managed to wake up more than halfway through the trip.

However, he ended up just taking a nap on her back. Akane was still wide awake, keeping up the armor while Chase used the chains to keep them all down. Feeling them dropping out of the air slowly, their landing stabilized as Y/n clawed the ground for stability. Grabbing Galena, Chase kicked Nikos on the side of the head to wake him up.

Scrambling and rolling off of Y/n's dragon form, she soon fell onto the ground in her human form. Her clothes were torn, her body was littered with scratches and bruises, and her skin was warmer than usual. The heightened temperature in her skin always seemed to happen after she shifted from a bigger form.

Nikos's snakes went into the woods, crafting a wooden shelter for them while Akane helped build another barrier around their temporary camp. After the shelter was set up, they covered the ground with large nonpoisonous leaves. Chase set a sleeping Galena down as Nikos grabbed Y/n, pecking her forehead in a brother to sister manner. "Get some rest, you did enough."

She smiled weakly at that. At least it was some sort of praise for her hard work. Her head lolled onto his shoulder as her eyes fluttered close, a soft breath escaping her lips as her breathing slowly evened out. The orange eyed boy watched Nikos set her down beside Galena, blinking at him. Nikos caught his gaze, tilting his head. "What's our next move?"

He sighed, looking down at his hands as he shot a fireball at the pile of wood Nikos's snakes had made. "Our next move is to rest up for the next three days. We'll gather whatever food we can, heal up, and then head for the next island, Stella. Our client is residing there for now." Chase nodded curtly, elaborating more in his head than his words.

Nikos didn't mind, not pushing it as he sighed, running a hand through his ruffled black hair. "Whatever you say, you old geezer." He teased before walking out, probably going to find food. He scowled at that, head tilting up when Akane poked the fire like before, speaking up on her opinion on that. "He's not wrong. With white colored hair, you really do resemble an elder."
