Recall

The smaller nodded gently, pulling out one final hug from Dust. And then, he entered the machine.

Recall End

The little one looked nervously at Dust, as the machine clamped down on him, exposing only his wrist.

Dust frowned, picking up the needle again, feeling dull and heavy.

"Close your eyes," he said gently, waiting until the child had done so, then injecting the fluids into the other's wrist.

The small child flinched in pain as the needle hit his wrist. He then gasped out a small muffled sentence. "Take care Dust, and please remember our agreement..."

The child's skin bargain to darken, and his veins glowed through his torso. The boy also began to tremble, throwing up an oddly glowing substance. His gasps and cries were barely heard above the ticking of the machine incasing him.

Dust took an instinctive step backwards, then a couple more for good measure, feeling a pang of something resembling guilt at causing the child so much pain.

'Be okay... Please be okay... I'm so sorry.' The words died in his throat, not making it past his mouth.

'I don't want to hurt a kid.'

After the machine stopped buzzing, it opened its doors, and the kid half stepped, half fell out it. His eyes looked in-pain and tired, and he was shivering. "D...D-dust...?"

His voice was barely a whisper. "I...I-I feel w-weird.."

"Kid..." Dust said softly, keeping a cautious distance, but stepping slightly closer.

"I'm sorry..." he murmured, feeling his guilt grow.

From above, the speakers screeched, "Kill it. Now!"

The small child whispered, clawing his paw-like hands over his ears. Everything hurt now, and he began crying in pain. He felt numb.

Dust growled at the speakers, then used his magic to draw the child into a firm hug, whispering hushed apologies, but making sure that the smaller couldn't attack, restraining the other with magic bonds, feeling his guilt growing on him.

The child hugged Dust, crying in pain and fear. "It hurts Dust. I'm scared!"

The speaker repeated itself. The child suddenly screamed, pulling away from Dust's grasp. A giant tentacle tore out of the kid's chest, smashing the speaker. It then, disappeared. The child was trembling.

Dust took a half step back in shock, then approached the child again.

"Kid," Dust said softly, reaching out for the smaller tentatively, his arms held out in an invitation for a hug. "I'm here. It's okay. I'm here."

He wanted to take back his actions. He wanted to reverse the pain he had caused. He couldn't, of course, but he wanted.

The kid looked a Dust, fearfully and in-pain. He quickly hugged Dust, crying and mumbling. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

He then looked up at Dust fearfully, and said, "Do you have to kill me, because he said so? What about Horror?" The hound boy then sighed, reading up in painful fear. He knew what had to happen.

Dust shook his head, biting his figurative lip.

"I'm not going to hurt you unless I'm made to. I... You don't deserve to die. You never did," he said guiltily. "I'm so sorry..."

The boy shook his head. "T-they'll hurt him. Horror. If you d-don't obey, Horror will suffer. Um, Dust. You have to..." the small dog explained, trembling.
