A whole day has passed without you hearing even a peep from Law.

Shachi and Penguin were clueless as to why their dark haired friend had gapped it yesterday after you had decided to fight in game.

Had he misinterpreted your competitive teasing as an actual argument? Had you taken it too far by promising a fight, even if it is only in game?

Either way something had gone wrong and he hasn't answered any of your messages since leaving the park.

You had talked through the situation with Robin who, for once, had no extra wisdom to bestow upon you. You are on your own with no clue as to what you had done wrong.

He must have just forgotten something important then not be able to go online since. You try to push him out of your mind but your confusion and guilt overpower you.

----------------------

On the other side of town the raven haired man is also struggling to get you out of his mind. He paces around in his apartment, wandering from room to room not sure what to do. His phone, which sits on his bedside table, has finally stopped buzzing. Shachi and Penguin have been messaging him all morning after sensing that something was wrong yesterday.

Law can't blame them but some peace and quiet would be nice so he can think everything through. The mumble of traffic outside seems so much louder than it has ever been before and the ticking of the clock marks every second he is wasting by trying to fight his thoughts of you.

The man sighs and returns to the cramped kitchen to make himself a coffee. It is unusual for him to get a full night's rest anyway but last night was one of the worst.

Law grounds himself to a chair at the dining table, forcing himself to stop pacing and actually think everything through.

"Donquixote" He mumbles to himself, glaring at the wall. "Just when I thought I had finally put all of that behind me."

Why did it have to be you?

Law sips his coffee as the gears of his brain start to comprehend the events of yesterday and the ghosts of his past that have followed him.

The only possibility for you to have that surname is if that bastard Doflamingo is your father.

Law shudders at the thought of his greatest rival raising a child. What a monster that child could turn out to be.

But you have been nothing but nice to him the time he has known you. Your warm personality is nothing like the creepy man that is apparently your father.

Law searches his memories for even just one thing that can prove you are like your father so he will be able to escape while he still can, but there is nothing. You have done nothing to justify how he is ghosting you.

Maybe it is fine for him to be friends with you. Maybe you are nothing like your father.

But maybe you are manipulating him for your father.

He shakes his head at the thought.

Even if you are working for your father he had met you online, there is no way you could have known who he was and how he used to be connected to your father.

He had been the one to come up to you and talk to you first. The two of you meeting was purely a coincidence and the chances of Doflamingo planning it is very small.

Law closes his eyes as if it could help him concentrate more.

Now that you know his name is it possible that you could repeat it to your father?

The dark haired man recalls one of the conversations by the river in Pokemon Online. The one where you had confided to him about your father and the daunting decision that you are still facing with his 'business'. You had told him that you knew nothing.

That could easily be a lie to cover for Doflamingo's nasty deeds. No one would want to give details about a 'business' like that, even if it was just to a stranger on the internet. Even if you did know anything about it you wouldn't have told Law.

He grimaces at the idea of you knowing, helping out with and maybe even one day being in charge of Doflamingo's 'business'. From how nice you seem to be online and in person Law can't imagine you having been involved with Doflamingo's work in the past.

From what he remembers you don't have much contact with your father and this request for the 'business' came out of nowhere for you.

If only you knew about what happens when Doflamingo goes on his work trips. He is sure that you would have absolutely no trouble making the decision against Doflamingo's offer if you were a little more informed.

Law opens his eyes and takes another sip of his coffee, happy having figured out that even though you are the daughter of the most vile monster he has ever faced you are still you. This realisation brings him a bit of peace and he can relax slightly.

Of course the potential consequences of him staying in contact with you could have dire results if Doflamingo ever finds out.

The obvious and safe action to take is to withdraw all contact from you, that way he can keep away from Doflamingo and leave the past in the past.

But there is a part of his heart that feels heavy with the idea of losing contact with you. Law stares into the leftover drops of liquid in the cup with distaste.

He would also have to come up with an excuse for Shachi and Penguin. They seem to like you and it would be unfair of him to pull them away from you just because he has some loose ends from before he met them.

His thoughts are interrupted by a pounding at the apartment door.

"Oi! Law!"

It's Shachi.

The raven haired man sighs quietly and pushes himself to his feet, making his way towards the door.

Time for thinking has run out.
