Having never been on a date before the idea seems rather daunting to you. And so you find yourself pacing restlessly up and down your room two hours before you are supposed to meet Law.
You have no idea what to wear, if you should put on makeup or how you should do your hair. Should you go all out? He may just end up taking you to a park. But what if he wants to take you to some fancy restaurant and you show up dressed in jeans?
You breathe in deeply and stop the pacing, forcing yourself to concentrate on your current task.
Law doesn't seem like one for fancy restaurants so a more casual outfit should be safe. With summer still ongoing your options are narrowed but you still manage to pick out a nice outfit of shorts and a light long sleeved shirt.
You pack some money, your phone and a few other necessities into a small bag as you quietly step out of your room. It isn't exactly early in the morning but your parents like to sleep in so you move slowly and soundlessly. You leave a note explaining that you will be out for a good portion of the day on the kitchen counter and try to sneak to the entrance.
Unfortunately you are intercepted by your father who seemingly has just woken up.
He lazily gazed at you for a moment.
"Where are you off to so early?"
"It's 9am." You reason
"That's not the question I asked." Your father's suspicion grows.
"I'm going out with a friend." You reply quickly.
"That sounds like a lie."
"You would know something about lying." You retort, pushing past him and walking to the front door. You don't look back at your father as you pull on some elevated sandals and walk out of the door.
The light blue sky is partially covered with white fluffy clouds with the sun every so often poking out to bathe you in light and warmth. The wind picks up and you welcome it's cooling touch against your skin. The buzzing of cicadas and singing of birds fill the air and you relax into the summer atmosphere before setting off down the street.
You reach the park you and Law had agreed to be the meeting place. He is already there, sitting on a bench and watching a pair of common myna birds hopping around on the grass field.
"Hey." You greet him.
He looks up to you and smiles.
"Hey." He replies. He's wearing a dark coloured t-shirt and his spotted pants that he seems fond of. You relax when you notice that Law is also wearing casual attire. The relief of knowing you won't be going anywhere super fancy is kind of unexpected but raises questions about where you will actually be going.
"So where are we going." You inquire.
"The zoo." Law answers as he rises to his feet.
You haven't been to the local zoo since you were a child. Last time you had gone it had been with your mother and brother and a seagull had stolen a hot chip from your hand.
"How does that sound?" Law regains your attention. He seems almost concerned after you didn't reply to him.
"The zoo sounds fun." You reply sincerely. "It has been so long since I last went."
The two of you board a bus and are mostly silent during the ride. Eventually you reach the entrance of the zoo.
You both pay and enter.
"Where do you want to start?" Law asks.
————————————————-
You and Law start off in an African safari area. You walk over large dusty fields of giraffes, gazelle, zebras, ostriches and rhinos on a tall boardwalk. At one spot a zookeeper hands out lettuce for people to feed the giraffes who can just reach the platform. You eagerly hold out your hands and offer the lettuce to one giraffe. It's soft fuzzy mouth gently takes it from you.
