Chapter 50

To celebrate the beginning of a new year your friends had decided to go to the pools.

Robin drives you, Nami and Vivi there while Sanji takes the guys. Vivi has invited her boyfriend Kohza who will meet you there and you had invited Law, Penguin and Shachi. Unfortunately the pool has a no dogs rule so Bepo couldn't come.

Your group is the first to arrive. You make your way through the building, paying and changing. Nami and Robin wear bikinis and Vivi wears a one piece. You wear a bikini top and a pair of board shorts. The four of you exit the changing rooms to the outdoor pools where you will be swimming. The heat of summer has only grown worse in the last week and you have been longing for the day where you can relax in the cool water. You would have preferred a lake or the ocean as the water there tends to be colder but the pools are local and easy for everyone to reach.

The pools themselves are pretty big. There are four of them in total and they are all quite different.

The first one is shallow and has a small playground for kids on it with slides and small fountains. It is covered with young families and their toddlers.

The second pool is similar to the first but a bit larger, for kids who know how to swim and have outgrown the first one. Children swarm it playing cheat or tag while their parents watch from the sidelines.

The third pool is for teenagers and young adults with high diving platforms, large slides and only a couple of fountains. Half of it is shallow enough for you to touch the ground and it grows deeper the further you get.

The fourth pool is a deep pool for doing laps in.

You figure that Luffy and Usopp will be keen for swimming in the third pool so they can go down the multiple slides and play around. Luffy never really learned how to swim properly but he often still tries to jump into the deep end.

The four of you make your way to the third pool where Robin and Nami sit on the side while you and Vivi jump into the cool and refreshing water.

You swim around lazily on your back for a while, soaking in the feeling of being almost weightless in the clear water. Vivi follows your lead in relaxing while the other two sit on the edge with only their feet dipped in the pool. They kick at the water lightly.

Kohza arrives shortly after your group and joins Vivi. They wade around a bit further out from the rest of you and chat.

Eventually Robin and Nami join you in the water. Nami complains about how cold it is as she slowly sinks into the water. This isn't helped when you decide to lightly splash at her.

When she is up to her waist in the water there is a giant splash as someone cannonballs into the pool, soaking you, Nami and Robin in water.

Nami shrieks at the sudden cold and turns to yell at whoever jumped in so suddenly only to find Luffy grinning from ear to ear. Nami grabs his ear and starts scolding him and instructing him to be more considerate of others. He couldn't care less about what she is saying, he is just excited to spend the day having fun.

The rest of the guys approach the pool you are in and jump in with a little more grace than what Luffy did.

After that everyone splits off somewhat to do their own things. Vivi and Kohza remain together, going down some of the water slides and just hanging out. Luffy decides that he has to try everything and races from one slide to the next with Usopp chasing after him so he doesn't end up drowning himself. Sanji spies on all the girls wandering around in their swimwear when he isn't dragging Luffy out of the deep end of the pool. Zoro makes his way to the fourth pool where he can do laps and have a bit of a workout. Robin doesn't stray too far and spends most of her time on the side of the pool with a book in hand. She occasionally takes breaks to cool off in the water.
