" Hurry up Britt! " My mother honked unpatiently in the car. Scurrying over I pulled open the door and slid in.
" You look..normal.." I nodded.
She huffed and pulled out of the driveway. As we were halfway down the street we saw Cody. Beer case in hand, he wore a dirty white T shirt and ripped jeans, his butt hanging off his shorts.
" Were going to a concert." My mother slowed down next to him. But he just continued to walk.
" I don't care." He snorted. I don't know why she puts up with him. It made me mad that my mom would stay.. but yet again I knew we had to.
My mother put her head against the wheel and slowly speded again.
" You OK.?"
I asked her. Her eyes shiny from the unfallen tears.
" Yeah.. I just can't find myself to leave him. He was so different when I met him. Like a romeo and I was his Juliet.."
I grunted.
" He was never you're Romeo...Dad..Dad was you're romeo. " She didn't answer she just kept her eyes fixalated on the road. Turning on the GPS I listened to the sweet lady's voice while leaning against the arm rest.
Thinking of him once again. Ever since the accident and the treacherous venture in his house I've been having dreams.
Nightmare
' I found the letter tucked neatly under a tree bed where me and Oliver always played when we were little. My fingers shook as I read the fateful words on line paper. I found my feet taking off towards the bus station. My sneaker soles burning from the scoldering cement, My heart thudding inside my chest was the only sound that rung in my ears.
There he was sitting at a bus bench silently tapping his foot to an extra agent beat totally oblivious of my presence.
" Oliver!!?!! " I yelled. He didn't look up, as if he didn't hear me. Like I was just a whisper in the dark.
" Oliver!!!" I tried again. Not a twitch. I picked up my pace but it seemed as if every time I came closer he was more far away. My breath taken, my legs getting weak. That's when the bus arrived. He looked up with a smile pulling his back pack over his shoulder and towering his suitcase.
" OLIVER!! OLIVER WAIT!! " I screamed. My voice seemed lost and I couldn't speak any longer. My heart pained in my chest and I fell on the ground in a pit of sobs.
" Are you OK little one? " I remember that husky over drunk voice. The voice that stuck a knife in my stomach every minute I breathed at the hospital. Cody.
I pulled back. Burning my palms on the sidewalk.
I couldn't find my voice to scream or find my legs to get up.
He came closer to me pulling out a glass bottle from his huge jeans pocket.
" Obey me! " He said. Haulting me to a stop. I kept moving.
" OBEY ME!!! " He raised his hands to slam the bottle against my head once again'That was when I usually would wake up crying. Or screaming, most of the time. But all of my dreams begun with Oliver. Some nights would be a horrible night mare the other nights would be a beautiful dream.
We would be at a dance he would sway me through the night and plant a soft kiss on my lips. But those nights barely came.
" Brittany! " My mother shook me knocking me out of my dazed sensations.
" Were here." She said. I looked out the window to see her parked on the grass of a full blown parking lot. I swallowed.
" We come..we leave.." I said sourly.
