The next morning, I woke up in one if the beds in the house. A glorious scent hit my nostrils. I inhaled deeply and closed my eyes. Sitting up, I located my bag and got dressed in a white v-neck and blue jean shorts. I skipped downstairs to the kitchen. Matt was looking in the fridge. I slipped my arms around him and rested my head on his shoulder. He twisted around and kissed me.
"Good morning," he said softly. I smiled and sighed.
"I love it when you say that," I said. He chuckled and grabbed orange juice out of the fridge when I released him. He set the juice down and picked me up, placing me down on the counter. I wrapped my legs around him and held him in place. He laughed and held my cheek and waist as he kissed me. I wasted no time deepening the kiss. My leg pulled me closer to him.
"Good morning," a bright voice said. I jumped and hit my head on the cabinet behind me. I looked to where the voice was coming from as I held my head. A woman who was older walked in with a basket of vegetables. Matt laughed and answered her greeting. He picked me up and set me down on my feet.
"Marissa, this is my mom. Mom... Marissa," he introduced. I blushed deeply, but reached out and shook her hand. She smiled warmly.
"Hello darling. You can just call me Nina. I've heard so much about you," she smiled animatedly. After I let go of her hand, I turned into Matt and hid my face in his shoulder. He chuckled softly and held me.
"Mom, I thought you were going to start your own garden at your house?" Matt said. His mom put her hand on her hip.
"I did, but there are still lots of vegetables here from the last time I planted them. I was just coming to get them," his mom explained. With that, she turned and left. Matt kissed my hair and smiled down at me.
"For someone who teaches kids how to kick butt daily, you're very shy," he chuckled. I smirked and punched his arm playfully.
"I was just... caught off guard. I didn't know she was going to just... walk in," I said. He picked me up and set me back on the counter. He chuckled and placed his hands on my waist.
"I love you," he smiled. I smiled back and kissed him.
"I love you too," I said. He pulled a cup out of the cabinet and filled it with water. I drank it gratefully.
"Do you want to go out for breakfast?" Matt asked toying with my fingers. I looked at his attempted breakfast before I nodded. After he dressed, we headed out to IHOP. It was a nice breakfast. There weren't as many cameras as there were at the airport and the breakfast was peaceful. For most of the week, we went out to eat and just hung out at the house.
Finally, we went shopping for the perfect Prom wear. I ended up finding a gorgeous flowing electric light blue strapless silk dress that hugged shape nicely. It was simple but elegant and it flowed down to my feet. We found a dress shirt for Matt in the same color. He paired it with some black slacks and a black tie. It was great; we were all set and I was grinning from ear to ear. We stopped at a small bistro and ate before we went back to the house.
Time flew by way too fast. Before I knew it, I was at the airport again. I hugged him longer than necessary and gave him a kiss before I boarded the private UJAA plane. As far as everyone else was concerned, I lived in Texas still. I was back in my cabin when Headmaster walked in. He smiled and handed me a box.
"What's this?" I asked, opening the box. He shrugged.
"It's a small Prom present. Something so that you never forget us no matter where you are. It was your mother's," he smiled. Inside the box was a heart-shaped necklace. I smiled and hugged him.
"Thank you," I smiled.
"You're welcome. Oh, and don't forget you have a class in ten," he smiled. I laughed and threw my hair up in a ponytail. I dressed and taught my class. Afterwards, I ran into Katy and Vy. They immediately smiled and hugged me.
"How was your trip?" Katy asked. I smiled and shrugged.
"Perfect, as usual," I smiled. Katy giggled.
"We're glad you're back," Vy smiled. I hugged them all one more time before I headed up to my room. I showered and went to sleep.
