"John! Sammy! It's time to come inside. Dinner's ready!" I yelled out the back door. They were trying to help grandma with the new vegetables that were planted in the garden in the greenhouse. Matt jogged down the stairs and kissed me. I smiled.
"You know we still have to plan their fourth birthday's right?" Matt reminded. I grunted and threw my head into his chest.
"How are we going to manage to pull that off this year? Sammy wants a princess party, and John wants a superhero party," I explained. Mom came in with her basket and laughed at us.
"Twins got you down? Just split the party in half. One side for Princess Samantha, and the other for Captain John," Mom shrugged. I thanked her and placed the plates on the table. Two tiny footsteps came charging through the door. Matt stopped them in their muddy little tracks. He held each one's hand, took their shoes off, and started heading upstairs with them.
"Come on guys. We're going to get washed up, and then Mommy made your favorite; spaghetti and meatballs." John cheered while Sammy looked up at her dad.
"I want cr-crawtish atufe," Sammy struggled to say. I smiled and laughed. I've only made that for them once, and Sammy fell in love with immediately; just like I did. Matt laughed and took them up to their room. I smiled and sighed. It seemed that the older they got, the more opinionated they became. It was getting harder to please them both at the same time.
Oh well, you live and learn. Mom gave me a hand with the drinks and said goodbye before she went back to her house. Tiny footsteps filled my ears again along with normal ones. It was always music to my ears. Both of them took their normal seats and looked to us expectantly. Oh, my twins. After only half a year of being married to Matt, we found out I was pregnant with them. It was one of the happiest days of my life when I finally got to hold them.
Matt and I went over to them and cut their meatballs. After that, it was fair game. They both dug in. I had to tell them to slow down on more than one occasion. After all of us were done, Matt turned on their favorite show in the living room while I put the dishes away. Their favorite show was actually our favorite show. It would calm them down and eventually put them to sleep. Matt took them to their room before he came back and kissed me.
"Don't forget about that concert I have tomorrow. Are you taking a nap today too?" he whispered, trying not to wake the kids. Their nap time was the only time I had to rest besides at night sometimes. I nodded. He lifted me up and carried me upstairs, setting me down on the bed. It was unnecessary, but I loved it when he doted on me. The twins normally hogged all of our attention anyway.
"Love you," he whispered, kissing my forehead.
"Love you too," I mumbled before Matt left the room.I sighed. It was all in a day's work as the mother of twins and the wife of Matt Jason. I still talked to Vy and Katy from time to time who were happily working for the UAA. I was happy. Finally... everything was perfect.
Just as I was about to fall asleep when my phone buzzed. I picked it up off of the night stand and answered the call from the restricted number. It was always the restricted calls that made me a little excited.
"Yes?" I answered coolly.
"We have a mission for you..."
