"I had class every day at six, and sometimes I didn't get out until late."

"How late exactly?" the man questioned.

I sighed, "maybe six through nine, but that night it was different. I was practicing pas de deux with my friend Giovanni and he left around nine."

I continued to practice that night until eleven, but I've always felt that I wasn't alone. The dance studio was huge and possessed great windows with views of the lake. Once darkness sat it was evident that it was time to leave.

Sept 15th, 2016

"Adul there's no way you're gonna stay here another hour," Giovanni spoke he smiled as he sat with his back towards the shiny glass mirrors drinking his water.

I laughed "of course I have to, we literally have auditions for the Metropolitan next week and you're concerned about my practicing?" he rolled his eyes.

Giovanni was the best male dancer in the class, and probably the entire studio. He would practice once and get everything right. His tan skin was glistening with sweat beads after performing pas de deux with me so many times I could tell he was exhausted.

"Okay one last time and you could go" I spoke as he sat his plastic water bottle down and came beside me. Our bodies moved perfectly together. We were always in sync, every leap and every turn in tune with one another.

Once the music stopped we both panted for air as he went to get his bag."Don't stay up too late okay? be careful." He knew I always walked back home and he asked me the question he always did. "You sure you don't want a ride?"

He rose a brow waiting for my response. "No Gio I'm good I promise," He smirked in response.

"See you tomorrow Adul," he waved while exiting the door. When It slammed it created an echo in the studio and I was the only one that could hear it.

I wish I had told him goodbye, I wish I was smart enough to take his offer. I did more turns and jumps until my body couldn't take it and finally deciding to go home. I sat on the faded encased brick seats, taking off my dirty pink pointe shoes, placing them in my bag, then finally exiting the old studio.

The night was still young though no one was around and the sky was dark as ever; stars being polluted by the streetlights.

My route was a quick way down North street, past a few restaurants, and to the right. I kept the same path every day, and he knew it. A stranger knew everything about me and I didn't know him once.

Walking past the lake, I paid attention closely—the steps were getting louder. The crunch of the fallen leaves under our feet was evident but I wouldn't turn around.

I held on tightly to my bag and sped up my steps as I counted each one. "One.Two.Three.Four," I said to myself as he quickly followed.

A white van at the edge of my street parked still waiting for its victim. I tried to scream, when his arms were around me but I was pushed into his embrace.

"Pretty girls like you shouldn't be out here alone," his brown eyes glistened and showed nothing but pity. His hair long but neat and a mask over his face.

"Let me go," I mumbled out as a white cloth covered my nose.

"Come on now, breathe in Adul," he whispered "Breathe in for me," but I didn't dare.

The stranger knew my name and began to get frustrated when I didn't follow his request. "Breathe bitch!" He shouted as a felt a tight knot in my throat causing me to gasp.

The poisonous fumes entered my airways. I wanted to fight back, I didn't want to leave. Then my eyes felt heavy and my body was limp as I drifted deeper into his hold.
