At that moment in time Evan felt like he was going to die. My head was currently pounding and if my nose ran one more time I was going to chop it off. I laid on my bed nestled under all of my blankets falling in and out of a restless sleep. I looked at the clock ready for the day to already to be over only to see it was just beginning.
I woke up later in the afternoon to see I had 7 missed text messages all from Connor. Most of them were him asking where I was since I didn't show up for school and if I was okay. The last text declared he was on his way to my house, that text was sent 10 minutes ago. I quickly texted him telling him that I was fine, just sick and that he didn't need to come over.
His response was almost immediate which scared me a bit since he was most likely driving, 'i'm still coming over'. Even in a text message he left no room for argument. I was actually glad he was coming over since my mom worked so i've been alone all day.
I was just scrolling through instagram when I felt my stomach clench violently and next thing I know I was rushing off to the bathroom. I skid to my knees in front of the toilet and just barely made it before I felt the bile rise in my throat. I heaved into the toilet all of my insides for what felt like an hour but was most likely just a couple minutes.
Eventually I felt a presence behind me rubbing soothing circles into my back. I probably would've been more scared of the unknown person behind me if I wasn't busy throwing up my insides. After awhile I just laid there exhausted against the toilet seat lid. When my senses finally came back to me I was able to distinguish Connor's voice.
He had been whispering blandishments into my ear this whole time to try and soothe me, "I'll be right back, I'm gonna get you some water"
I felt his comforting aura disappear as he padded down the hallway and into the kitchen. I closed my eyes for a second and when I opened them again Connor was kneeling beside me urging me to drink the water. Running my tongue over my lips I could feel the taste of vomit on them and gratefully took the water and downed about half of it.
I handed the cup back to him, "Thank you". I watched him set the cup onto the sink counter and stand up offering his hand to which I gratefully accepted.
"Come on let's head over to the living room" I want to say that I walked over there but it was mainly Connor doing the work considering I was leaning against him. He brought us over to the couch and gently led me down onto it. He walked out of the room and before I could ask him what he was doing he reappeared with a bunch of blankets in his arms.
He tossed them onto the couch and myself and walked into the kitchen digging through the cabinets, "Wh-what are you lo-looking for?" I all but croaked out.
"Medicine"
"There sh-should be some on the table" Remembering where my mom said it would be before she left this morning. He walked over to me with the medicine in his hands and a new glass of water. I grimaced at the sight of the medicine imagining the icky taste it had.
"Open up" He brought the spoon with the medicine on it closer to me prodding me to open my mouth. Hesitantly I did and quickly swallowed and took the water from him trying to get the taste out of my mouth.
I saw Connor snicker at my face, "Don't la-laugh at me" I pouted at him.
"Well then maybe you shouldn't be so cute" He leaned down and pressed a kiss against my forehead making me squeal.
"Connor I don't want to get you sick" He just laughed again and plopped down next to me on the couch. He grabbed the remote and turned the TV on playing 'Parks and Recreation' and snuggling under the blankets with me.
When I started to sniffle he quickly handed me the tissue box from off the coffee table, " I don't care if I get sick".
I merely rolled my eyes at him, "Says the person whos not sick". The rest of the day went on like that, Connor and I just relaxing on the couch and him helping me out whenever I felt sick. Until I remembered earlier, "Connor how did you get in my house?"
HIs attention was drawn to me when I spoke, "You gave me a spare key remember?" I was about to answer him when I heard the front door open.
My mom entered looking tired as ever but smiled when she us sitting on the couch, "Hey you two, how are you feeling sweetie?" She set down her purse then walked over to me setting the back of her hand against my forehead.
"I'm feeling better mom, Connor's been helping me out all day"
"That's good honey".
Connor and I shared a look of agreement before starting to get up off the couch. He helped me grab all the blankets and we headed off to my room yelling a quick, "Bye mom".
We settled down on my bed creating a little nest for us to lay in. We stayed up for a while just talking to each other until I felt my eyes start to droop, "G'night Connor", I drowsily mumbled.
When I woke the next morning I felt slightly better than I had last night. I felt the side next me noticing Connor was gone only to hear someone puking in the bathroom. I let out a soft laugh as I got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom, "I warned you".
I heard him groan a, "Fuck off, I'm dying".
"Let me go get you some water".
Yeet another chapter done! Hope ya'll liked this one it took me a bit to come up with how I wanted it to play out but i'm happy with how it turned out, Until next time!
