"So what made you w-want to be a tattoo artist anyway?" Evan wondered.
I made a show of shrugging my shoulders, "What can I say, I enjoy being able to repeatedly stab someone and not get arrested" Evan scoffed and playfully hit my shoulder.
"Come on I'm being s-serious"
"Hi serious, I'm dad", I could see the murder in Evan's eyes at my response. I gave an evil chuckle as he rolled his eyes at my antics. "Honestly though, it's because of my parents"
I could see he wanted to ask me to continue but before he could my phone started buzzing in my hoodie pocket.
I quickly glanced at my phone to see the text on my screen reminding me that my break was over. With a sigh I showed him my phone's screen, "Looks like I've got to get back to work", I begrudgingly told him.
"O-oh I guess you do", He tried to hide the disappointment in his voice.
"But we'll continue this conversation later?"
He seemed to perk up at that, "Y-yes."
"See you later then, Hansen" I winked as I made my over to the front door, not missing the way his cheeks lit up before I slipped out the door and into the frigid weather. I zipped up my black jacket to try and shelter myself from the cold as I hurried my pace over to the tattoo shop. The bell hanging above the door rang as I made my way inside greeting my coworker.
Noticing she was in the process of inking the back of someone's ear I leaned over to see what she was creating and noticed the beginning of a flower being made, "It looks good Sam", I complimented her work.
"Thanks, Connor," Throwing a smile over her shoulder at me.
I made my way over to the counter to check the schedules on our computer and see when the next appointment was. I saw that they should be arriving soon and made my way over to my station to get ready for them.
I just finished up with my most recent costumer and checked the time to see that that was my last person for today.
I had just finished wiping down my station and called out to Sam as I gathered my stuff, "You're closing today right?"
She looked up from what she was doing to nod, "You don't have to worry, I got it, go see your boyfriend" She smirked.
I stuttered for a response, "He's not my boyfriend."
She just shrugged, an evil gleam in her eyes, "Yet."
"Whatever, have fun closing", I waved her off as I threw on my computer bag and exited the building. Once I was outside I found myself walking down the familiar path to the flower shop just next door. As I entered the shop I found Evan watering some irises, utterly oblivious to the world around him. I smirked at my discovery and slowly crept up behind him, "Hey Hansen~."
I tried to stifle my laughter as I watched him jump into the air, dropping the thankfully empty watering can and clutching his chest, "Holy sh-shit, yo-you scared the li-life out of me."
I bent down to pick up the watering can handing it back to him, "I didn't mean to scare you that bad" I drawled out, grinning as I did.
He rolled his eyes at me snatching the watering can out of my hands, "I definitely believe that", he moved to go put the watering can back in its spot. I glanced around the little shop as he did, looking at all the different types of flowers were being offered. An idea struck me and when Evan turned back around the only thing he saw on my face was a smile that could rival the Cheshire Cat.
He looked at me quizzically, "Are you ok-okay?", I noticed his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Hansen, I would like to make an order" I proclaimed.
His eyes glanced around the store before they landed back and mine and if possible his eyebrows lowered even more, "Right now?"
"Right now," I confirmed.
"Ok-okay, what kind of fl-flowers do you want?"
Looking him dead in the eyes I shrugged, "I don't know."
He looked at me suspiciously and slowly asked, "You don't know?"
The smile never leaving my face I answered him, "No idea," I pretended to think for a moment before exclaiming, "Why don't you pick out your favorites for me, and I'll get a bouquet of those" I suggested. If he didn't think I had lost it before he definitely did now.
"Are you su-sure, what if the person do-doesn't like those fl-flowers?" He doubted.
"Trust me they'll be perfect" I promised him.
He just nodded his head and sighed, "Okay then", I watched as he grabbed an empty container and made his way around the shop, carefully picking out which flowers he wanted to add. Until finally he made his way back over to the counter a now full bouquet in his hands.
He handed them to me as he exclaimed, "That'll be $15.00", I carefully set down the bouquet on the counter as I dug into my pocket in search of my wallet. I finally pluck it out and grab a wad of cash from it, handing it off to Evan.
As he handed me my change he asked me, "S-so who are the flowers fo-for?" After I pocketed the change I picked up the bouquet and offered it to him, "You."
He spluttered and his eyes grew wide as he looked at me than the flowers then back to me. He pointed to himself as he inquired, "Me?", at my nod, he continued, "Why?"
I took a deep breath and told him, "I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me?" I again held the flowers out for him to take as I anxiously awaited his response.
He slowly reached out and took the bouquet from my hands staring fondly at them, "So is that a yes?"
"Yes!" He nodded, a smile taking over his facial expressions.
