The weight of a loss

Chapter 16

- "Don't you dare blame this on you!" Lanie almost yelled at Kate when she suddenly heard keys at the door.
They both knew who it was before the door opened none of them were prepared to meet him yet, Kate just froze.
Rick opened the door and that's when he saw Lanie and Kate on the couch and Kate was in tears and Lanie looked pretty pissed off.
- "Hey..." Rick said and closed the door behind him.
No one said a thing, suddenly Kate flew up from the couch and ran into the bedroom crying.
- "Kate?!" Rick yelled after her.

He knew that she was mad at him for not telling who he was meeting but she looked totally ruined.
- "What happened here?" Rick asked Lanie who looked like she was going to explode.
- "WHAT HAPPENED HERE? Hahahah, you wanna know what happened. When I came here Kate was unconscious and had an empty bottle of vodka in her hand. That's what happened here!" Lanie yelled at him.
- "What?! Why didn't you call!" Rick said without thinking.
- "I called you like hundreds of times but you didn't pick up!" Lanie yelled.
"I was busy and I forgot my phone at home, now excuse me I need to go see my wife." Rick said and walked towards the bedroom.
"She doesn't want to see you, your cheating bustard." Lanie yelled.
Rick just ignored her and walked into their bedroom and that's when he saw the bottle and the broken glass.
- "Kate?" Rick said almost whispering.
- "GO AWAY! I do never want to see you again." Kate yelled.

Rick walked up to her bedside and sat down bedside her but Kate rolled over to the other side and got out of bed and walked out to Lanie where she felt safe. Rick followed her out.
- "Kate can't you just left me explain?" Rick asked nicely.
- "There's nothing to explain...I can't give you what you want so you go to someone else." Kate said with tears streaming down along her cheeks.
- "But please..." Rick begged.
- "Is she already pregnant Rick is that why? I'm going to stay with Lanie for some time and don't bother to call me." Kate said and walked into the bedroom again and closed the door behind her.
Rick walked towards the door but Lanie stopped him.
- "Don't even think about it..." She said and got her coat and phone.

The door flew up and out came Kate in tears with a bag over her shoulder, without looking she ran right into Rick who was about to opened the door.
He grabbed her and tried to get her to calm down but not this time.
- "Rick let me go!" Kate yelled and tried to fight him so he would let her go but he didn't.
- "Kate I need you to listen to me! Annabelle is my therapist!" Rick said almost embarrassed about it.
Kate stopped fighting. Lanie just stood by the door a little shocked.
- "You're fucking your therapist?!" Kate said and finally Rick let her go.
- "Of course not! I went to her to get help because I didn't feel so good after everything that happened and us." Rick said looking down.
Kate just stood in shock.
- "So you're not cheating?" Lanie just sighed that she would step outside for a bit so that they could talk alone.
- "I would never cheat on you Kate, you're the love of my life." Rick said and took a step closer to her.
