"Shoot me..." I whispered to myself, so only I could hear. I couldn't help but shake the unease from meeting a real life Xerxes Break... from getting this job... from him complying so easily... there had to be a reason, right?
"You look nice today, bella!"
I turned to Italy, his rather shrill yet cheerful voice pulling me from my thoughts. "Oh... thank you. You look nice too, Mister Italy."
The nation grinned innocently. "Wow, thanks bella! I'll see you around! Oh, wait! I forgot to ask... what is your name?"
I gave a friendly smile. "I'm Allison Petrie,"
"Ve! That is a nice name! Well, see you around, bella!" Italy skipped off, and I gave a smile. I couldn't help but laugh softly at his antics.
The meeting started a few minutes later, as most of the countries arrived while I was talking to Italy.
"Let the meeting of nations commence!" America shouted. Most of the countries proceeded to groan. "Everyone who has boring news to share, stand up!"
China was the only one to stand. "My news is that I brought ai wo wo, a form of steamed rice cakes."
Japan sighed. "I would rather have mochi."
Russia just stared at China nonstop during this, a rather creepy expression growing on his face.
The targeted male only grew very nervous. "S-Someone help me...!" China slowly moved behind the nearest person... whom happened to be Germany.
"Nein, get the hell away from me!" Germany went to sit elsewhere, leaving China trembling on the floor.
"Any other news to be shared?" America asked. Everyone remained nervously silent.
"Okay, well I have news. I knew a guy who rescued an otter. Also, I donated to ALS research because that meme is really cool! Aren't I such a cool-"
"Nobody bloody cares!" England bursted aloud.
France stood up. "I have news, actually. We think there may be a new terrorist group active near the border between France and Spain."
The room went silent for a good minute.
England suddenly stood up. "That's important! Why didn't you say that earlier?!"
"Calm down, black sheep of Europe! I would have if these uncultured countries allowed me to speak!" France stood up to counter him.
"Shut up, Francey-Pants!" England screamed. For a good second, I thought that they would jump over the table and begin to claw at each other.
Italy frowned and turned to look at me with an innocent expression. "Bella, can you get my pills?" he whimpered.
I nodded slowly. "Y-Yes sir, of course." I quickly scurried off.
I returned to see that France, England, America, and China were all screaming at each other. Italy was whimpering like a wounded puppy, Japan was muttering something about his stomach hurting and Russia was laughing. I did my best to ignore all of this chaos and handed the bottle to Italy. "Here, sir."
Italy quickly took his pills, and grew once again optimistic. "Come on, guys! Let's be friends!"
"Never!" England and France screamed in unison. I then noticed Japan looking at me out of the corner of my eye. I pretended to not notice and be watching the fight. However... I did notice. Was I supposed to break up the fight? How would I do that?! I technically wasn't supposed to physically touch the countries... so... what now?!
Thankfully, Germany began to yell and everyone sat down. I didn't have to do anything about it.
The meeting ended with no success, just like last meeting.
Why was I not surprised?
