I returned to the conference room, back in my sweater and jeans. Kevin was sitting on the sofa sipping some drink from an unlabeled can. I sat down in the opposite sofa. "Well someone is quite the downer." Kevin sipped the strange drink once more.

"You're getting buddy-buddy with me awfully quickly." I cracked a small grin.

"Ah, well." Kevin shrugged. "It's all part of the job, really."

I smirked, my mood beginning to pick up. "Is there anything I should know about you, then...?"

Kevin shrugged, that weird grin on his face still. "I'm not that interesting. I'm a veteran... Gulf War, and-"

I interrupted him. "Wait, how old are you?! I-I mean, if you don't mind me asking..."

Kevin smirked. "Forty five."

My eyes widened. "No way! You don't look a day over twenty seven!" I paused and laughed a little. "What is your secret...?"

"There's no secret. Anyway, I was a veteran for a while buuuut a bomb tore part of my face off. That's really it." Kevin popped a hard caramel in his mouth.

"Don't put it like you don't care... that's a bit worrying." I frowned.

"Alright, I may have over exaggerated. It just damaged my eyesight and I was discharged." I gave a nod in increased understanding and attempted to reach for the caramel bowl on the table.

"Don't eat those, they are almost six years old~" Kevin hummed, stopping my hand mid-motion.

I drew my hand back quickly. "But... w-why?!"

Kevin gave an innocent smile. "I have no idea what blasphemy you are talking about. Now, tell me about yourself."

"Well, dear Kevin, I was raised by a single mom and went to collage after she died. Other than that, I have a fairly average life. I live on Maine's coast.... that's pretty nice." I explained, thinking. There wasn't much to note. That was sad.

The white haired man gave a nod, sipping his drink until the can was empty. "I'm curious. What was your mother's name? I knew a Petrie girl once who lived in in that area you're from."

I smiled at the thought. More coincidences, huh? I'd better get an explanation sooner or later. "Her name was Lilli Petrie."

Kevin nodded, still wearing that nonchalant smile like a mask. "Yes... I may have knew her once. We were friends a long time ago. It really... saddens me that she is gone." Kevin tossed the can into the trash bin. "It's time I ought to be going. You should be too. Adios."

That was... abrupt.

"A-Adios." I responded, watching him leave. This was... an odd sort of encounter. But then again, I was sort of getting used to that.
