Life on the big island

My first bounty

I get in the car with Leland and Duane lee. Leland drives and Duane lee and I sit in the back. Leland says " you are going to follow me to the back and do exactly what I say."

"Got it." I say.

"Two minute warning." Leland says over the radio.

"ten four." Beth says.

We pull up on the house and we all jump out. I run with Leland to the back of the house. Daune Lee goes to the front door with his dad. Dakota covers the side of the house with Beth. Dog bangs on the door and says "Andrew, you need to come out. We have a warrent for your arrest."

All the sudden the back door flings open and The fugtive runs towards me. I step in front of him and spray mace at him. He falls to the ground immeaditly. Leland comes over and cuffs him. Once we search him i pour water in his eyes. dog puts him in his vechile and says "Parker you are riding with us. Grandson go ride with your dad."

"Yes grandpa." Dakota says.

I hop in one side and Dog hops in the other. Between us is the fugtive. Dog speaks up and says "Andrew why didn't you go to court?"

"Because I don't want to go to jail." He says.

"But your charge has a chance of jail. You might have not gotten jail time. But you ran so now you are most likely to get jail. But i am going to try and help you. we are going to put you in a rehab and get you sobered up and then a job."

"Why would you want to help me? I jumped bail on you."

"because brother i have been where you are right now. I was at the lowest point anyone could be at. But i changed and so could you. You could do so much better than this."

"thankyou."

We pull up to the jail and Dog and I go inside to book him. I come back out and Daune Lee wraps me in a hug and says "Goodjob!"

"Thanks." I say.

he lets go and we all stand in a circle and hold hands. dog says "Dear lord jesus, we thankyou for this day and for keeping us safe on our bounty. We thankyou for bringing Parker to us and we pray for her and her loss." Just then I squezze Daune Lee's hand a little harder. Dokota who is holding my other hand rubs his fingers against my hand. "We thakyou for letting us catch our fugutive. In your name we pray, amen."

We all let go and I can feel the tears streaming down my face. when he said he prayed for my loss, a million emtions just hit me. Everyone just came over and hugged me. after i stop crying Dog says "Lets all go home and change and go out to a nice dinner."

We all ride back to the office and go to our homes. Daune Lee unlocks the door and he says "No offense but you need a shower, you smell like mace."

I hit him in the arm and he laughs and puts his arm up in surrender. I walk to the bathroom and shower. I go to my room and put on red maxi dress. It is chevron print. I walk into the living room and say to Duane Lee "will you braid my hair again?"

"Of course." He says.

I sit down and he starts braiding my hair. He says "So let's play five questions."

"Ok you start."

"When is your birthday?"

I say "Today."

"what? Why didnt you tell me?"

"because its not important."

"Yes it is. You only turn 17 once."

"you only turn every age once."

He finshes and he goes and changes. He comes back in Kahik shorts and a polo. He slides his boat shoes on and i put on my flipflops. We get in his truck and ride to the restaurant called "By the shore."

When we get there everyone is dressed nice and there is no one else at the restaurant. Daune Lee says "We are meeting them inside."

I walk through the door and everyone yells "Happy birthday!"

I smile and turn to Duane Lee and he says "What, i already knew it was your birthday, just wanted to see if you remembered."

I sit down and we all order. I sit at the end of the table with Dakota sitting on my right and Beth on my left. After dinner they bring out a cake and they all sing happy birthday to me. Beth says "Grandson go show her the beach."

We get up and walk down to the beach. Once we get down there we walk along the shore line. He says "So how old are you?"

"17. What about you?" I say.

"Just turned 18 last week."

"cool."

"yea."

"So did you always want to do this?"

"Do what?"

"be a bounty hunter."

"Yes i always have."

"cool."

"You look very pretty tonight."

I feel myself blush as I say "thank you, you look handsome too."

"thanks." He says.

Beth yells "Come back you two. It is present time."

We walk back to the restaurant and sit back down. Beth sets four presents in front of me. I open the first one to reveal a pair of pink hancuffs. Leland says "I thought you needed a pair and beth said to get pink ones."

"Thankyou leland." I say.

The next present is from baby Lyssa and i open it to reveal a giftcard to Dick's sporting goods. I say thankyou and open the other two. they are both from beth. She got me gloves and a nice purse. I hug her and say "Thankyou."

Dog says "I have one last present for you." He stands up and takes out a badge. He slips it over my head and he says "It use to be your mom's when she would bounty hunt with us."

"My mom bounty hunted?" I say.

"Yes and she was good at it." Beth says.

I hug dog and say "Thank you for this."

We ride home and Daune Lee helps me carry my presents in. We go to sleep and when I get up we go running. We get back and shower. After we change we eat apples and he says "Ready to go shopping?"

"sure."

We get in his turck and pull out of the driveway.
