their footsteps bounce off the buildings that are swallowed in darkness. only a few streetlamps illuminate the empty roads as they proceed. 'so, did you have fun?' hoseok asks, waiting impatiently for the response. jungkook waits as well, though, not as impatient. 'because you'll keep bothering me about it, yes, i did.' taehyung admits, looking away from the other two. he can hear them faintly celebrating. a hand rests on his shoulder, 'i'm glad that you had fun. maybe this day will just last for a moment, but at least it happened, and you seem like you feel better.' jungkook smiles softly and genuinely. taehyung returns the smile. the empty pit in his stomach reminds him of the truth. he can never be happy. not again. his chance at happiness disappeared along with jimin's life. his happiness was jimin. familiar buildings pass by. taehyung now recognizes the area. he fights the urge to break away from the group. if he put those two through so much trouble, the least he could do is let them walk him home. he already told them where he lives so there's no point in trying to run away anymore. he'll just have to find another safe place to stay. one that has no memories of jimin trapped inside. he can't deal with any more of those. there's far too many already. far too many.
